Welcome to the tiny house! Located in Northeast Seattle's quiet, residential Wedgwood neighborhood, this home has most of the comforts and amenities of a house, but in a 144 square foot envelope. We hope you enjoy it!
My former partner and I built this tiny house with no experience and a limited budget. We learned a lot along the way, and certainly made a few mistakes, but our rustic tiny house is cozy, beautiful, and very functional. I am still in the process of improving this space, it needs a bit more exterior paint, and I will be updating some of the kitchen space in the coming months. I'm constantly thinking of new and better ways to use the small, sweet, home!
While the tiny house has all the necessities for comfort and convenience, it is quite rustic for a city home. The tiny house has a well-equipped kitchen, complete with a three-burner stove, sink, toaster oven, fridge, dishware and a blender. Next to the kitchen is the very small but functional bathroom, which includes a small shower and a low-tech composting toilet. The California-King sized bed is only accessible via a ladder, and is nestled cozily in the loft. The "great room" has basic furniture and a small closet where guests can store their clothing and other items during their stay.
The tiny house does not have a washing machine or dryer, but you are welcome to use the laundry facilities in our "big" house. There is WiFi, but we are working to get a stronger signal as it can be slow. If you are having trouble with it, please let us know!
We are on a busy street, but the tiny house is nestled in our large, quiet backyard. We will be landscaping and improving the yard, but will not do so while guests are staying in the tiny house. Wedgwood is a very quiet neighborhood, and is a joy to stroll through. We are a few blocks from coffee shops, restaurants, a grocery store and a drugstore. We are about 7 miles from downtown.

I live in the "big house" with three housemates. I am a teacher and work normal hours, but am off in the summer and therefore often out of town adventuring. I am usually available via phone. I generally give guests their space, and do not impinge on the tiny house space while guests are around.
Другие важные подробности
The main house is constantly undergoing improvements. You will notice that the garden is often in a bit of a state of disrepair, I am on my way to creating a yard oasis, but haven't quite gotten there yet!
Because we built this space with no experience, there are a few unique things about the home:
First, we ask that you NOT burn candles or incense as the house is flammable!
We also ask that you be comfortable with the composting toilet system if you choose to rent this space. In rare cases you may have to empty a portion of the toilet.
We do not allow pets unless we have discussed otherwise.
The driveway is not available for tiny house guests to park in. There is free parking on the street right in front of the "Big House".

I am a science teacher and outdoor program coordinator at a small middle school in Seattle. I love middle schoolers, and love playing outside, and get to spend a lot of time blending the two. The tiny house is the result of two years of unskilled but very hard work, and I am still upgrading, finessing, and improving it. The tiny house lives in the backyard of my Wedgwood home, which I am also often working to beautify and improve.
