Edina House is an old detached Victorian House with many original features. We have three rooms available. With a mix of antique furniture and modern comforts this room accommodates two people in the lovely double bed. We provide shower gel and shampoo/conditioner in both the shared shower-room and family bathroom. We provide fluffy towels and dressing gowns. There is a kettle for tea and coffee making in your own room, so you can make yourself at home at your own little table and chairs.
Our home, Edina House, is an old detached Victorian house, built in 1876, which we have been restoring to its original former splendour with cornicing, stripped floorboards and stunning working fireplaces in the public rooms. We currently have available three beautiful bedrooms. This listing is for one of our bright, light, double rooms. If a group of five people want to stay in the same house, you can book out all three of our rooms separately. For busy times of the year, like the Fringe Festival, it is best to book early. Despite being a 20 minute walk from the centre of town, our house (which makes the cul-de-sac at the end of the street) is peacefully quiet at night as there is no through noisy traffic; commented on by all our guests who enjoy a peaceful night's sleep.
You will have shared use of the guest shower-room and family bathroom. The kitchen is unavailable for guest use but there are lots of little artisan cafes and restaurants nearby. If you wish you can bring back food to eat at the little table and chairs in your room and we can provide plates and cutlery; just ask if you need anything.

My husband (Angus, Gus for short) and I have lived all our lives in Edinburgh and can point you in the direction of local eateries and places to go for a drink as well as the usual city attractions. We are a short walk away from the Omni Centre (think multi-cinema complex, restaurants, pubs and gym) and the Playhouse Theatre which has first class shows all year round. The world famous Edinburgh Festival's venues are a walk or short bus ride away during August. We brought our own two children (and assorted other children) up in our house and now occupy the house on our own, but as part of a large, sociable family we love having visitors and making people feel comfortable and welcome in our home.

You willl find fresh fruit and flowers in your room as well as tea and coffee making facilities. There is fresh milk for tea or coffee kept in a fridge on the landing (where you can pop a bottle of wine to chill, if you like). A little "Goody Box" holds a selection of teas, instant coffee and shortbread/chocolate biscuits. If you want, you can bring food home to eat at your own private wee table in your room. We can provide cutlery and plates on request. We also provide fluffy dressing gowns to wear when you visit the shared bathroom and shower-room.
We respectfully ask guests not to wash their clothes, or leave personal belongings in the bathrooms as these are shared facilities. There is a local launderette which guests may find useful.

My husband and I are enjoying restoring our beautiful old Scottish house, you must come and see how we are getting on and then come back to see our progress. We are hoping that Airbnb will be a fun way to meet new people from all over the world. I love music and art of all genres, we do have some of the best art galleries (many free) in Scotland and our theatres are always full of wonderful shows all year round. I enjoy entertaining and making everyone feel at home. My husband has a huge knowledge of Edinburgh and has loads of exciting information about the City and its secrets. Just ask and he will be delighted tell you about them. Finally, we are part of a large happy family and look forward to welcoming you to our home.
