Quaint Uptown Charm New Orleans shotgun-style home.

This listing is half of a shotgun home. Shotgun homes are ubiquitous in New Orleans and were built that way when residents were taxed on the frontage of the home, so they were built narrow but long. You need to walk through each room to get to the next. Cozy and charming and a perfect place to stay with friends or family!

1050 sq feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.

The first room is a living space with sofa and large TV that opens into the second room, which has a table and chairs and dry bar. Then a small hallway has a full bathroom with a bathtub and shower and toilet off of it as it leads into the first bedroom. The blue room has a dresser, another TV and queen bed. The next room is the green room, which has a full bed, bookshelf and dresser. The two bedrooms are connected by a door with a lock on it, and there is a bathroom on either side of the rooms so it allows for privacy. A kitchen follows, complete with dishes and cooking equipment. The kitchen features a small table and chairs, stainless fridge with ice maker and coffee maker. The last room is a bathroom with a full size washer and dryer, shower and toilet. The back door leads to a small backyard.

***note you cannot access kitchen or living space from both bedrooms without walking through the bedrooms.

The house features a Smart TV and wireless internet. We do not have cable television.

The neighborhood is residential, with Carrollton Avenue 3 blocks away. Nearby restaurants include Boucherie, Lebanon Cafe, Jacques-ismos, and the Camelia Grill. Also close to Tulane University as well as bars, restaurants and shops on Maple Street and Oak Street. All are walkable.

The Carrollton/St. Charles streetcar line is 3 blocks from our front door. This can take you along St. Charles Avenue, through the Garden District and into Downtown. This streetcar line is 24 hours! Downtown and the French Quarter are also an inexpensive cab ride away. 3.5 miles from the Fairgrounds for Jazz Fest and 5.5 miles from the French Quarter.

Linens and towels, and extra blankets are available. Lots of floor space also, and we do have a blowup mattress available in the house.

We want you to have fun and enjoy New Orleans as much as we do. Please ask for any recommendations as we are happy to share our city with you! We do live in the home part of the year so please treat it as your own and respect our space.

The air/heat is located in the small hallway across from the first bathroom. Change the temperature by holding down the coordinating buttons. Please turn off the air/heat when you leave the house.

Linens and towels are provided. We just ask that you strip the beds and put everything in the laundry room when you leave.

Extra blankets and sheets are available in the bedroom closets and in the back bathroom on the shelf.

Extra toilet paper and paper towels are available in the back bathroom.

Trash bags are underneath the sink.

In addition, due to flies and gnats and the beauty of living in the South, when you leave the house, please tie up the trash bags so they don't attract anything we don't want. Trash days are Wednesday and Saturday, so if you are there during that time and have excess trash you want to get rid of, you can leave it out on the street the night before.

We do not allow pets or smoking inside. If you want to smoke, please enjoy the front and back porches and dispose of your cigarette butts.

This home is in a great location for a real New Orleans experience. There are hip restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. If you want to get to the French Quarter it's an easy 3 block walk to a trolley that will take you directly there. It is a shotgun style home so all rooms connect but there is a private bath for each room. The neighborhood is quiet and safe.

Caitlin's railroad apartment is a cozy spot situated in Uptown NOLA, away from all the craziness that was the French Quarter during Mardi Gras. We were walking distance from a neat cemetery and a couple of good bars/restaurants. The apartment itself was much larger than anticipated and worked well for our needs. It was super helpful that there was a keypad lock in addition to a loose set of keys so we were able to spilt up into groups and return home at our own individual paces. Although it was a bit pricey for its location, we loved our stay at Caitlin's and would recommend it to others looking for a comfy Airbnb in a more residential neighborhood.

This is an amazing house and Caitlin is a fantastic host! Carrollton is a beautiful neighborhood full of tremendous old homes, great restaurants and you are only mere blocks from the Streetcar that will take you right to the quarter! This is a fabulous house! I can't say enough good things about it. If you are heading to NOLA, this is where you want to stay!

Very nice, clean home in a peaceful, safe-feeling, pretty neighborhood with easy access to good restaurants and stores. Visitors should know that while the streetcar is convenient and charming, and the ride to downtown is picturesque, it is very slow and can take 45 minutes to an hour to get to Canal Street, so plan accordingly (or depending on time of day you might want to drive or take a ride-share). Caitlin offered us lots of suggestions of places to go and was very available to answer our questions.

Awesome house! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Super quiet but not too far away from everything. Comfortable beds and pillows, and really clean throughout. Caitlin was really easy to communicate with. Great experience.

Caitlin's home is lovely and homey in a safe neighborhood with coffee, restaurants and even an art supply store and a Rite Aid within walking distance. I especially appreciated cooking in her well-equipped kitchen and being able to do a little laundry. Charming, clean house that I'd love to visit again.

My husband and I just recently ate our way through Spain and France as we explored villages, beach towns and gorgeous mountains. We are easy going and ready for new adventures.

We adore New Orleans. The music, food, people and culture are intoxicating and addicting and it is our favorite place. We want people to use our house as their house and truly enjoy the city and it's charm.

Food is our passion; we make detours if we see a roadside sign selling peaches, local honey or green onions (to name a few, we make detours for all signs:)). We love to cook new things and we savor our meals.
