I was surprised the homeowners weren't there, but their friend, Brad, did a wonderful job as the host for my stay. He called me ahead of time to let me know where I could find keys in the event he wasn't there when I arrived, and which bedroom and bath had been assigned to me. (They have two.) He was very descriptive, and it was greatly appreciated. He immediately set the tone as being fantastically communicative.
Upon my arrival, he explained the homeowners had taken an impromptu trip, but he would be there for whatever I may need.
This home is beautiful, smelled and appeared clean -- you'd never know there are two cats living inside! (And the cats are so affectionate! I had to lure one of them out of my room after leaving my door open, but stooping down with the promise of affection was all it took!)
The room had a gorgeous mountain view, three windows, and was very spacious - complete with a couch. Wifi and cable/satellite TV were present and worked great!
Much to my surprise, I had my own bathroom, too. It was also spacious, except for the shower...but it was more than sufficient --- super hot water!
This residence is in downtown Black Mountain, and in super easy walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Despite this, it's very quiet. Granted, Black Mountain isn't a big town by any means. However, the neighbors next door were pretty loud late at night, but I could only hear them when I was outside rearranging items in my vehicle. As soon as I went inside, I heard nothing.
Guests have a back door entrance, which is nice since the stairs leading to the rooms are before you enter the main part of the house. It allowed me to come in late at night from a walk and not feel as though I may be disturbing the rest of the house, aside from quietly walking past the other AirBnb room. My room also had a box fan available for use, so I utilized it to drown out any noise for the other guest since I'm a night owl and an early bird!
Brad offered to make coffee for me for the next morning, before I departed for a Blue Ridge Mountain hike. It wasn't even 7:00am yet, and I could smell it brewing! I was equally pleased to discover he had set out a mug, spoon, napkin, and all the "fixin's" for a great cup of coffee. Love, love, love.
Even though the price was a little more than I wanted to pay, I would stay here again in a millisecond.
