Osborne Hall is an old Portland stone house with fabulous sea views from the large living room. Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. 5 minutes walk from Chesil Beach and 15 minutes from the Olympic Sailing centre. Artistic vibe. Good Seafood, Fish & Chips and great Pub on the beach.

Solid old character property with stunning views over Chesil Beach and Lyme Bay, and close to Portland Harbour, Weymouth and Dorchester. Located in Fortuneswell on the unique Isle of Portland within five minutes walk of the beach and 15 mins walk of the Marina which was home to the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
The building was built out of the local Portland stone as a Naval Victualers shop and store in 1889 and converted to a home about 20 years ago. It is now the second home to two Architects who are tastefully enhancing its original charms with contemporary style. There is a large kitchen on the ground floor with a Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a table seating up to six. Double doors open onto the sheltered south facing courtyard garden. There is a small garage store off the Hall which is suitable for storing bikes, wind surfers etc and drying wetsuits. New for 2014 is a quality teak garden table seating six.
There are three bedrooms on the first floor, a king size double bed in the master bedroom which has sea views, the second bedroom has a small double and a single bed. There is also a small single bedroom, and a family bathroom at this level with a bath and shower.
The whole of the top floor is a 45sqm open plan living area with high ceiling in the pitch of the roof. The room has a spectacular view from the balcony over Chesil Beach and It has two large sofas and extra chairs as well as a dinning table for 8 people. A very generous social space in which to relax or watch the Plasma TV.
There is also an LCD TV in the front bedroom and a MP3 music player and separate Radio in the rear bedroom. There is free access to the High Speed Broadband in the whole house (upgraded thanks to the Olympics!).
All Linen and Towels are provided and there is an electric blanket, Hairdryer and spare bedding if required.
Unrestricted Parking is available on Queens Road.
The rugged stone built village has several good places to eat out, The Blue Fish Restaurant, Quiddles on the beach, and the Chesil Beach Cafe (Taste) all serve excellent food, the Cove House Inn has good Pub food with a cosy atmosphere, and there is Fish & Chips, Cafes and other shops and takeaways nearby.
Portland is famous for its geology and building stone and forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, so there are lots of great cliff-top walks as well as Sailing, Windsurfing, Diving, Sea fishing, Biking, kayaking, skateboarding, Rock climbing and free Tennis courts in the Park opposite the front of the house. But the best is the wonderful unspoilt sweep of Chesil Beach with the waves pounding on the stones and the glorious sunsets over Lyme Bay.

Osbourne Hall was perfect for our stay. The location was ideal, the views are stunning and the house is lovely and spacious and light. I'd recommend heading down to the Cove Inn, turn left along the coast and walk and walk. The path is stunning.

Osborne Hall is a fantastic place to stay. Philip and Elisabeth have sympathetically modernised it to provide a house of tasteful comfort, yet retaining great character. The huge living area on the top floor has a balcony that we particularly enjoyed, with its magnificent views of the sea over Chesil beach. It was also a short drive to some of Dorset's best sights, such as the stunning Durdle Door. We would highly recommend Osborne Hall.

Strangely enough Osborne Hall is my childhood home so I want excited and apprehensive about staying there! We arrived and the heating was on which was a great relief, it was specially warm and cosy upstairs. Everything works and is in good condition, the view from both the main bedroom and the top floor are simply breathtaking, the beds were really comfy and everything was clean. Portland is beautiful and this is the perfect place to explore from. We'll be back in summer!

Great location with amazing views. Osborne Hall was the perfect place to spend a few of the lovely autumn days. Really close walk to the beach and onto Chesil Beach. The house is lovely and light and very comfortable beds. Communication with Philip was great - really quick answers, lots of ideas and tips of what to do.

Osborne Hall is situated in a beautiful location and has wonderful views. It is very close to Chesil Beach, which is quite stunning itself; however there is also easy access to the rest of the Jurassic Coast. We loved the many and varied walks along the coastline and the beaches. The house itself is very comfortable to live in, but also wonderfully stylish. We loved our stay.

Had a lovely time staying at Osborne Hall at the end of August 2016. The property is spacious and nicely laid out with some amazing views from the top floor lounge and rear (master) bedroom. Some lovely furniture and decor throughout. The host was great with the communication throughout, keeping us updated on a few small issues ahead of our visit and whilst we were staying. The only real issue we had over the listing versus reality was parking. The listing stated parking on premises but it's actually street parking...and it's very busy. Several laps round the block to find a space 2 mins walk away is not what you want when it's raining and you have to unpack a car of 6 people and their belongings..the road is too tight outside the house to "hover" unfortunately. A small issue that had minimal impact on our stay, but one worth mentioning I feel. Found out on leaving that we were supposed to get a welcome basket on arrival, made up from local produce... a nice touch if the cleaners remember to put it out for you. We just got a half eaten bag of toffees on the kitchen table :( The house is located fairly close to a local shop (Co-op) and a really good fish & chip shop. The nearest good eating pub (The Cove House) is in a great spot but I recommend you book well in advance if you want to eat as it gets really busy when the weather is nice. All in all we really enjoyed having Osborne Hall as our base during our time on Portland. A lovely house full of character and one I recommend and would 100% considering returning to.

Simon, sorry you misunderstood the situation regarding parking. The details do not claim parking on the property but clearly state that parking is available on Queens Road. August is very busy both for parking and getting a table in the pub!

Philip is an experienced London Architect who is married to Elisabeth who is also an award winning architect. We have travelled extensively and are interested in current affairs, culture, music and particularly the visual arts.
We use our house in Portland to escape from work and the city and enjoy the peace and fresh sea air, but we are happy to share it with friends and those who will appreciate the special qualities of the place.
We are admirers of mid century style and our house has many mid century pieces of furniture as well as some contemporary touches of our own.
