Our cosy one bedroom cottage is perfect as a couple's getaway. Only 3 minutes drive into Daylesford central, you will enjoy country living in your private 5 acre garden, with a boule court and bar and a spring fed dam under trees at the edge of the Wombat State Forest.
Daylesford is a very popular destination with visitors’ markets, galleries, lavender farms, wineries, olive farms, award winning restaurants and cafes, and a creative community of artists and musicians.
Just 4 minutes drive from the town centre on your own private 2 hectares of planted and open land, the property backs onto the Hepburn National Park where you can enjoy kilometres of walking tracks, including a pleasant 20 minute stroll to Sailors Falls. Most nights the cottage is visited by kangaroos, and the bird life is abundant.
Originally a 1930's dairy, La Laiterie has undergone a major transformation. From the road you only see the old cattle run surrounded by trees, but on the property side you discover a french country-style cottage with an outlook over treed and open land towards the forest. A petanque piste has been built on the old cattle yard beside the cottage.
The open plan living area features a well equipped galley-style kitchen and a cosy living and dining area. The bathroom is compact, but stylish and modern.
French doors open onto a shady courtyard garden. The separate bedroom with king size bed also has french doors into the courtyard. A second courtyard with barbecue and a vine covered outdoor eating area provide many options for enjoying the outdoors.
For winter comfort, walls and ceiling have thick insulation and the concrete floor creates a thermally efficient building. It is surprisingly cool in the summer and retains heat in the winter. Heating is supplied by thermal panels in the bedroom and living room, creating a warm environment on even the coldest day. For a cosy atmosphere you can also fire up the pot belly stove in the living area, which will be set ready for your stay.
Guests will have the 5 acres, including picturesque spring fed dam, the boule court and cottage gardens entirely to themselves.
Общение с гостями
The keys will be left for you and the place is entirely yours for the weekend.
La Laiterie is dependent on tank water so we ask guests to consider using water wisely during their stay.
If you see kangaroos visiting the paddock early morning or evening, please do not approach them. They are not domesticated.
To help us save energy, please turn off the wall heaters and lights when you check out of the cottage.
We are unable to welcome pets to the cottage because of the abundant bird and wildlife.
We enjoy our spring or summer living at La Laiterie in Daylesford for 3 months. The rest of the year we are onboard our sailboat which is currently in British Columbia Canada, or visiting family in California. That means that La Laiterie is available for guest use most of the year. We have a great lady who looks after the property while we are away....she enjoys spending time at La Laiterie in the garden as much as we do and will happily setup the cottage for your stay and clean after you leave.Thank you for viewing our cottage and we hope you enjoy La Laiterie as much as we do when we are home.
