This lovely southwestern style, furnished adobe guesthouse has a second story bedroom with a wood deck and stunning views. It is shaded by elm trees in the middle of the retreat center compound and surrounded by 33 amazing acres of gardens and rock outcroppings. The entrance is 15 miles south of Santa Fe on the scenic Turquoise Trail. Verizon works here. Before booking, please read THE SPACE. If rented, check out The COOP, the fabulous guesthouse next door. (Also on Airbnb.)
Located on the scenic Turquoise Trail, at the Garden of the Goddess Retreat Center is 15 miles south of Santa Fe, and only a few miles up the road from the artsy town of Madrid. (GPS will not get you here, please follow directions carefully.) The property was held for sacred purpose for millennia by native people and is famous in northern New Mexico for its unique rock outcroppings in an oasis environment.
This adobe guesthouse is nestled against a giant sandstone wall in the center of the retreat compound. It is two story and offers one bedroom, one ceramic tiled bath and one gorgeous, multi-purpose, handcrafted sink. It can accommodate up to 4 people with a queen bedroom upstairs, and a queen futon sofa downstairs in the common area. The open floor plan has large windows to bring in light and is designed with great air flow in mind, hence there is no door that separates the common area from the stairs or entry to the top floor. Features include an efficiency kitchen area with refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, induction cooking set and coffee maker in the downstairs living area. (The kitchenette is NOT set up to prepare or cook traditional family meals! Electric heaters keep you cozy on cold nights and a portable conditioner keeps you cool until the sun goes down in the summer, when the night breezes take over. One easygoing, non-barking, house-broken, small to medium sized, clean dog (ONE!) is welcome if you keep him/her with you at all times, keep off the furniture, don't leave unattended and scoop up after on leashed walks. Please let us know your pup will be coming with you.
We are nestled in behind huge rocks so we do not have general cell phone coverage. We DO HAVE an extender that provides reception for Verizon (and affiliates.)
The property is peaceful and generally quiet, but there are 4 other folks who live in the compound so you may hear footsteps or an in-occasional whoop when the bats migrate through, or a baby great horned owl or road runner appear--very exciting things to us country dwellers. We don't generally host parties but there is the possibility of hearing faint bits of conversation from an outside sitting area when guests may be visiting one of the other residences. While it is our intention to always be respectful of others, the property has to be maintained and so the quiet may also be broken by brief interludes with groundskeepers or other necessary repair or delivery folks.
This garden oasis in the high dessert is ready to greet your next visit to New Mexico with open arms. Come and explore the enchanted beauty of the Santa Fe area! We'd love to host you!
Beyond your own guest house, there is an enormous "back yard" behind the rock outcroppings that has many fascinating sites of sand stone formations with paths for gentle exploration. Please be mindful of where you are walking as we share the land with numerous critters from great horned owls to bunnies and lizards etc. These beings are not aggressive to those not in their food chain and some enjoy sunbathing, so watch that you don't step on a lounger and scare both yourselves!

Smoking IS NOT WELCOME in the residential area.
Parking: After you unload, please part your vehicle in one of the parking areas. If it is snowing, and you have to be able to get out, please park your vehicle by the front gate as it is not usually possible to get the ranch plowed in a timely manner.
We love this place and are thrilled to be able to share it with you. We enjoy a fairly quiet, respectful environment and appreciate the same from our guests. We light the outside areas with low impact solar lights not electricity.
Please turn off lights and heat when you are not in the house unless it is crazy cold of course.
We ask you to honor our quiet environment after 10 pm. With this in mind, we invite you to enjoy the night skies and views from the upper deck but bear in mind noise travels around our peaceful country space so please not use the upstairs deck to entertain or play music.
There is no smoking inside the house or immediate compound area.
If you are traveling with a pooch, they are welcome and we ask that you do not leave them in the guesthouse unattended and keep them on a leash when outside. We also ask you to keep them off the furniture. If this is a problem we are happy to loan you a sheet to cover the sofa. If you do not have your own poop bags please ask and we will provide some so you can tidy up after their potty breaks. There are a lot of places to walk your pooch. Please do not bring them into the planted garden areas or behind the owners house. Deposits can be placed in the community trash can by the tee pee.
Please do not bring unregistered guests.
Please clean dishes, pots and pans that you use.
Please leave doors closed so desert crawlies do not come in.
For safety reasons our insurance company will not cover us if we include the wood stove so it is not available.
We kindly request that you take your personal trash out to the nearby garbage container in the parking lot as you leave. If you use the futon downstairs, PLEASE return it to its couch position!
We really look forward to sharing the amazing beauty of this magical place with you folks!

I am a best selling author and life coach. I lead journeys to sacred sites all over the world. I'm a great cook- of course with enough butter anyone could likely call themselves great! Oh yeah, I also love to laugh!
