Sabaidee! This is a fully-equipped, modern home with Lao style right in town. It has an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, terrace with a view, and two air-conditioned bedrooms. The house has free wifi, drinking water, TV, DVD player, and a washing machine (as well as bathroom and kitchen supplies of course). Hassle-free pick-up is included for your arrival. We look forward to hosting you in our friendly neighbourhood and beautiful town!
We designed this house with a Belgian architect friend who worked for the local UNESCO World Heritage Office. Together, we developed a space that blends into the neighbourhood, makes the best use of light and views, and uses brushed concrete, local wood, and bamboo for a modern space with Luang Prabang style.
The house is built in "reverse" configuration, so the downstairs has two bedrooms with hardwood floors, a shared full bathroom (with separate toilet), parking for bicycles or motorbikes (there are places to rent both just around the corner), and a washing machine. The master bedroom has a small courtyard with plants where you can dry laundry, and a safe for your travel documents and money. Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds, air-conditioning, fans, closets, reading lamps, and mirrors. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom.
The upstairs is a vaulted-ceiling, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area with a balcony at the front and a large terrace at the back with a beautiful view of Phousi Hill. The kitchen is outfitted with a gas stove, refrigerator, toaster oven, kettle, French Press, and utensils, plates, and cooking pots. The dining table seats 6, and there's a sofa, daybed, and TV and DVD player (with a stock of things to watch!).
Guests have access to and privacy in the entire house.

We're pretty busy people at the moment, as we run our own businesses and have a 1 year old and 3 year old! So, we're generally not around on a day-to-day basis, but are happy to answer questions by phone or e-mail, or meet in person for urgent issues. We will send our neighbourhood tuk-tuk driver to pick you up from the airport or bus station (no extra charge), and he will supply you with the keys to the house. Being long-time Luang Prabang residents we have put together a folder with lots of insider information!
Please contact us to check availability and if you have any questions about the house!
Другие важные подробности
We'll arrange an airport transfers for you as part of your booking, and you'll be welcomed with fresh coconuts in the fridge (coconut water is perfect for this climate). There's drinking water, coffee, tea, and some cooking basics in the kitchen. The house also has an number of books about Luang Prabang and Laos for you to learn more about this beautiful town and intriguing country!
For families travelling with small children, let us know, and we'll put in a pack-n-play cot, high chair, kid plates/utensils, baby bathtub, and some toys and books.
Our neighbourhood is residential, so we ask that visitors are discreet and quiet on the street and in the home, particularly after 10pm. No smoking at all (even on the balcony), and no large gatherings.
Safety and security is important -- there is petty theft and break-ins in Luang Prabang (especially when foreigners are around), so guests are responsible for making sure that doors and windows are closed and locked whenever they leave the house.
Bugs and rats can be a problem in Luang Prabang too, so we also ask that you do not eat or drink in the bedrooms of the house, and do not leave open food or beverages out! The ants WILL come. There is tupperware in the house, and a failsafe is to put everything in the fridge!
We also ask that you remove your shoes in the house (a good habit when travelling in Asia anyways). We love this home and want to maintain it!
We are a Lao and American husband/wife team, with two small children (we're not currently getting a lot of sleep). I have been living here for 10 years, working for a development agency, consulting, and running a museum, and Noy, born and raised in Luang Prabang, runs his own jewellery business. We love travelling, eating, and doing both at the same time!
We want you to feel like you have your own home in Luang Prabang, which is why we outfitted this house as if we were moving in ourselves. We do admit to being busy people, working (more than) full time jobs, raising small children, and attending extended family gatherings (Noyyai has LOTS of cousins), so it's not easy for us to meet everyone who comes to stay, unfortunately. As hosts, we are probably most suited to guests who are independent and resourceful and like to explore on their own.
However, the house has a "local tips" folder full of recommendations and information for you. Restaurants we like, places to shop, and where to get a massage are all listed with a handy map. Our neighbourhood tuk-tuk driver (who will pick you up from the bus station or airport for free when you stay with us) can be contacted to take you further afield, and we are more than happy to answer questions by e-mail or phone!
