On a quiet country lane and overlooking surrounding fields and woods, Hay Loft is a charming, cosy cottage with exposed stone walls, real wood burning stove in the sitting room & an oak-beamed bedroom upstairs. In the evenings its just a short walk along the lane to the fabulous village pub for supper.
In a truly glorious spot with breathtaking views across open fields and small villages to Glastonbury Tor and the Mendip hills beyond, but only 5 miles from Street (and Millfield school).
Formerly a hay loft and now beautifully restored, the cottage is detached with the convenience of its own entrance, off-road parking on a private drive, and private outdoor seating area. The cottage has bags of rustic character with stripped wood floors, exposed stone work, and a woodburning stove for cosy evenings in (PLEASE NOTE THAT A SMALL SEPARATE CHARGE FOR LOGS AND KINDLING IS MADE OF £15 PER STAY). There's a modern kitchen downstairs with fridge-freezer, washing machine, oven/hob/grill, plus a pretty bathroom over looking the fields towards Butleigh village in the distance. Upstairs is a gorgeous bedroom which is open-plan style in what was the old loft. There’s a super-comfy, super-king bed with bespoke oak headboard (NB this could also set up as twin beds if required).
We live next door in Keepers Cottage, and also have two bed & breakfast bedrooms in the renovated stables, although this is still very much first and foremost a quiet, relaxed and comfortable family home. With over an acre of garden & grounds there are numerous places to find a secluded spot if peace & quiet is what you are looking for. We're very proud to be rated as a 'Special Place to Stay' by Alastair Sawday's.
On arrival you’ll be welcomed with homemade tea & cake, which you can have in your sitting room or in the garden if you prefer, plus fresh flowers from the garden in your room. There’s also a selection of local books and maps for your use during your stay, and complimentary broadband throughout the cottage.
Come and go as you please. Park on the drive (security lights at night). Enjoy the gardens - there are lots of quiet places to sit, eat or just contemplate!
There’s also covered storage for bikes, and a brilliant boiler room for drying wet walking/ cycling gear etc.

We - me, my husband Ian, grown-up stepson Nick, and dog Bumble - live in the main house. There’s usually someone around and about throughout your stay should you need us. Please note that we never let our dog into the cottage and when outside in the garden she's under control/ on the lead when we have guests staying.

Passionate about family life, cooking, and animals, especially our little dog Bumble. New residents of Somerset (and loving it!) Enjoying getting to grips with a new garden, and getting to know an amazing part of the country - there's more to Glastonbury and the Mendips than we could have ever imagined. We love our beautiful home in this magical part of England, and we love welcoming guests to it from all over the country, and world!
