Charming 1915 Craftsman house on Silver Lake hilltop with views of Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory and Western mountains.
This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath home with fantastic original character and plenty of breathing room inside and out. The house has a vintage feel with hardwood floors, built-in cabinets, sun room with large bay windows, vintage tiled kitchen and bathrooms. The interior space is quiet and serene with great natural light throughout the day, amazing sunsets and cross breezes.
The house is tucked away on quiet street just north of Sunset Boulevard, on the border of Silver Lake and Echo Park. Once you wind up the hill, it is very serene, given that you are minutes from all the conveniences these neighborhoods have to offer.
The Entry room is airy and open with a fireplace and wood paneled ceiling and flows into a spacious dining room, paneled with built-ins and a vintage tin top table. The living room area has a daybed/couch fit for sleeping and opens on to a sun room lined with windows with brilliant sunlight and views all day long. There is a TV with dvd player hidden away in a cabinet to watch… or not.
The Vintage Kitchen has an O’Keefe and Merritt 4 burner stove, an 1960s refrigerator, tiled counter spaces, large farm style porcelain sink and a small table. There is a washer/dryer but no dishwasher.
The two bedrooms both face the back of the house and are approximately 140 sq. ft. each.
Bedroom 1: is furnished with a full sized vintage art deco bed with plush organic mattress, two dressers, shelves and a chair for reading. The western wall is lined with windows for a view of the mountains, hilltops and Hollywood sign. A separate bathroom is tiled and wanes coated with a vintage pedestal sink, shower and claw foot bathtub.
Bedroom 2: is furnished with a full sized antique bed with new pillow top mattress, a nice sized closet and a freestanding wardrobe for extra storage. Two windows look out onto the backyard, with views of the Observatory and mountains all the way to Brentwood. The attached bathroom has a large vintage tiled shower (no tub) and sink with vanity.
The front covered porch has a porch swing, chairs, and wide steps for sitting. Views of the San Gabriel mountains can be seen to the Northeast. The front yard is gated, hedged and fenced for privacy.
The backyard is fairly large, fenced and private with a series of terraced gardens full of mature plants- bougainvillea, giant cactus, lemon, lime, guava, fig and avocado trees. The patio area has Weber BBQ grill, two picnic tables, and lounge chairs for sun bathing.
The house is located on the border of Echo Park and Silver Lake, so it is right in the middle of downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. The neighborhood is very eclectic, offering unique boutiques and restaurants, bars, music venues, art galleries, cafes and bookstores, all within walking distance. Within 5 minutes you will find coffee shops, health food stores, supermarkets, dance and yoga studios, breakfast spots, organic juice bars and public transit.
Just a few minutes away by car is the Hollywood 101 freeway, Glendale 2 Freeway, Los Feliz, metro lines (Vermont), the Silver Lake reservoir and Elysian Park ( great places to walk/hike), Grocery stores - Trader Joe's, Gelsons, Lassens (health food store), Cookbook (specialty items) and the farmers market at Silver Lake Sunset Junction.
10 min. drive to Los Angeles' historical downtown, Art museums, Disney Hall, Mark Taper, Union Station (train station), Little Tokyo, Griffith Park/equestrian trails/tennis/hiking; 15-20 min. to Hollywood, Staples Center, Glendale, Pasadena, Eagle Rock, USC, Occidental College, Burbank and Universal City. 20-30 minutes to West Hollywood, Beverly Hills; 30-45 minutes to the beach in Santa Monica/Venice.

There is no driveway, but plenty of free parking on the street 24/7 with no permit or street cleaning restrictions.
TV, DVD all region player, high speed wireless internet, full kitchen, cookware, dishes, washer/dryer, clothesline. Towels and linens provided.
The cleaning fee is 150.00 per stay. For stays of 28 days or longer, a cleaning person will come twice a month the cleaning fee will be 100/visit. Misc FYI- Gardeners come twice a month.
Due to the number of steps in the backyard and vintage furnishings/collectibles, I would prefer no children under 10. Babies are fine.
I am an artist/actress/filmmaker, love traveling, hiking, dancing, yoga, live music, rep films and healthy food. I have lived in LA for many years and can point you to some great places to visit / interesting things to do during your stay.

as much or as little as guests want. i am always reachable by phone, text, email to answer questions, suggest LA things and ensure that guests have everything they need in the house. there is a small house set down the hillside at the back of the property which i use as a work space and sometimes to stay. this space is very removed from the main house and accessed by a path alongside. i come and go and you will probably not see me, but if you do, i am always happy to stop and talk.
