I had my house cleaned the day Carola's people arrived. They were scheduled to check in at 6pm. The cleaners were an hour late, arriving at 4pm. I texted them about the delay at 5:07pm to be exact, (I know this because I have a screen shot of this conversation on my phone.) saying that the cleaners were an hour behind. I told them that their check-in which was scheduled for 6pm, would be delayed to 7pm; and I thanked them for being flexible. I'm not able to mount the text exchange in a jpg format here. I wish I could. They agreed to come to the house at 7pm, which they did.
Its true, that when they arrived, I was still moving around the house to pack up my personal items/clothes that would be in their way. Normally, this would be done before people arrive, but due to the lateness of the cleaners, I was running late. And i did apologize to them. Obviously, the cleaners missed the top of the fridge, and the cookware being put away dirty?? I dont' know what happened here, but this won't happen again. No one has every complained about this. My cleaners are ussually very thorough.
Generally, I don't like to intrude on my guests. I said when I left them after check-in, that I would come back to the house the next day when they texted me, when it was convenient for them. They never texted, so I did not go over to the house. This was obviously a miscommunication.
This is my home, and this group was really rough on it. Towels were stained, stuff is missing, and a piece of art and cookware were damaged. I have asked them repeatedly to tell me what happened to the art work--the thing i care most about--but she never responded to this. I described it to Carola in two places on the Airbnb platform. I understand that things happen. (I am generally really easy going). Carola never responded to my direct request to ask the other people in her party if they knew anything about the artwork.
I have been extremely busy, with a family member in hospice in New York City. I just haven't had time to post the photos. But now I will. I would still like to know what happened to my piece. I would love a direct response.
We have no TV and it is listed that way in the amenities.
The lesson I have learned with this group is to communicate exclusively over the Airbnb platform. You never know how things will be perceived and it's best to have total transparency. I haven't posted the photos of the damaged art, or all of the trash that these people left, but I will now.
