Where to start with Villa Jenny... We were a party of 9, with two couples and we were visiting Sorrento for a friend's wedding. I can honestly say it fulfilled if not exceeded our expectations and we were left at the end of the trip 100% satisfied. The house itself is an enormous 18th century villa sprawled over three floors. It's a beautiful building with plenty of charming quirks and the pictures certainly don't do it justice. There are quite a few steps to get to the 1st and 2nd floor so access may be an issue for some and bears consideration. There are plenty of communal areas with a large dining room, kitchen, living room, garden with fruit trees plus child's swing and a 2nd floor terrace that has stunning views of the bay (which is where we spent a lot of our trip). Even though we were a party of 9 there was plenty of space in the Villa for us to have privacy when we wanted it and there were plenty of bathrooms for the large group size to not be a problem, in fact I think we could have squeezed in another guest or two had we needed to. The house comes fairly well stocked in terms of kitchen utensils, laundry facilities (plus irons) which we found especially useful given we had a wedding to attend. We visited in October and found the days to be lovely and warm but slightly chilly at night, for which there are portable gas and electric heaters to use. It's located a little away from central Sorrento, about a 30 minute walk, in the Sant'Agnello region. We found plenty of amenities nearby however-supermarkets, restaurants, ATMs etc. There is a beautiful public park of sorts almost next door to the villa called Villa Fondi which is worth a visit. You are also close to the marina (where there are more restaurants), you can choose to access it by the 'sea lift' which is just outside the front door or choose to walk the snakey route down which takes about 15 mins. I should point out that the road the Villa itself is on gets extremely busy during business hours and its exceptionally narrow with no pavements. Parents should be careful with young children and if you are driving yourself there it might be an idea to stop at the nearby Via Delle Rose and call the hosts- we found it quite difficult to locate the villa especially at night and it's impossible to stop and pause on the street due to the ongoing traffic. There is parking for a tiny car (we had a Citroen C1) in the garage at Villa Jenny and for other's the hosts have access to a secure car park for a fee. We were met by Emma and Rosa who act on behalf of our host. They were an absolute delight. Emma was very approachable, informative and easy to reach whenever we had any issues. Rosa...

Our stay at Villa Jenny was magical. The home is breathtaking and a short walk to town. The views from the second floor deck were amazing, as well as the views overlooking the marina. We were a party of eight, the youngest being 15. Stepping out the front door was a bit of a thrill. Look both ways, you are stepping onto a narrow road. From the pictures you can tell the house and furnishings are old. It was all very charming, like being in a different era. Everything was comfortable and clean. The linens on the beds were clean and crisp. Emma and Rosa greeted us and showed us around the house when we arrived. The are very friendly and accommodating. We had an issue with ants on the the second day, Rosa came right over and sprayed. Although it was blazing hot during the day, the evenings were mostly mild and open windows and fans were sufficient. The WiFi worked best on the first floor and spotty on the second floor. The elevator to the beach and restaurants on the marina is directly in front of the Villa. We walked to town to take the train to Pompei, shop the local grocery store, eat at cafes and pizzerias. Vito put us in touch with Francesco who, for a fee, sent a car to pick us up at the airport. Francesco also arranged for a day long boat trip to the Amalfi coast which included swimming under a private island, stopping in Amalfi and Positano, and eating lunch at a private beach. Francesco picked us up on several occasions in Sorrento and Positano and took us to Agerola to hike the Path of the Gods. Every time we saw him he was friendly, informative and funny. We even called on him for local advise and he was always accommodating. He told us the best places to eat, and he was right every time. On our last night we arranged, for a fee, for Rosa to cook us dinner. She did a wonderful job, everything was ready when we arrived back from Capri. Eggplant, gnocchi, fish, meat, more pasta... She served us local fair and cleaned up afterwards. She honestly made it a special treat. I loved the house but it was Emma, Rosa and Francesco who really made our trip amazing.

Villa Jenny is a very special and unique home with so much character. We enjoyed every minute in the expansive garden and wonderful sunsets on the rooftop terrace. We were 11 people with 4 friends nearby stopping in as well, never once felt crowded. Rosa and Emma are the secrets gems for your stay, make use of their local knowledge and Rosa's cooking. The house may be a little challenging for visitors with mobility issues or younger children, there are a good number of stairs. Great location to visit all parts of the Sorrento/Amalfi areas and parking lot nearby if needed. Take the elevator across the house to the beach below, it was mostly locals and there are great little eating spots.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this wonderfully located early 19th century villa. It felt like living in a museum. Very high ceilings, a beautiful garden with lots of shade and a great roof terrace with a magnificient view. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Rosa, and the next day Emma came by to explain more in English. One night we asked Rosa to cook for us. The food was perfect and like my mother-in-law said, we felt like we were in a movie.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Jenny and Vito is a great host. He organised a car from Naples airport for us which was waiting for us when we arrived late. When we got to the Villa his staff Emma and Rosa were waiting to greet us and were very friendly. We had Rosa cook us a meal on 1 of the nights and that was fantastic and I would really recommend any visitors to do this. She's very friendly and a fantastic cook. The Villa itself is very large and spacious with a lovely rooftop terrace where you can enjoy Lovely views over an evening drink. Being an old building it's not without its quirks but it's all part of the charm. We didn't have a car and used the train to get everywhere - the station is only 15 minutes walk away and you can easily get to Pompeii, Herculaneum,Vesuvius and Sorrento (which is very close). The only negative for me is the road outside the Villa gets busy and quite noisy so care needs to be taken with kids when going in and out of the Villa. And the internet was intermittent. But overall it's a great place for a large group to use as a base to visit the amazing places in the area.

We loved our stay at Villa Jenny for our family vacation - it was big enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other and yet provided wonderful common areas like the stunning top floor terrazza where we enjoyed family meals. The garden is also lovely to sit in during the day (although there were too many mosquitoes to enjoy it in the morning and evening!) Be aware that there are a lot of stairs to get to the bedrooms so this wouldn't be good for anyone with disabilities, but it was fine for us. Vito was wonderful to deal with, very responsive and helpful, as well as his helpers Rosa and Emma who made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. When we were all tired and jetlagged from our flight, Rosa kindly brought over breakfast the first morning - fruit, milk, and a tray of delicious fresh cornetti! They were all available to answer any question we had and made sure our stay was enjoyable. Piano di Sorrento is a smaller, less touristy town, which we appreciated since some of the other Amalfi Coast towns get jam packed in August. It is a short trip to Sorrento if you want all the tourist experience. The Villa is directly across the street from the elevator that takes you down to the beach -- this was a wonderful convenience when our kids asked to go to the beach every day! It is a little farther walk (10 mins) to various restaurants, parks, grocery stories and markets where we did our food shopping. Overall, this is a really special, historic, beautiful villa that provided us with an authentic Italian experience. We will definitely treasure our memories at Villa Jenny.
