A charming and typically Greek abode overlooking the hills of Andros island and out onto the beautiful Aegean Sea.
Almost 300 years ago, Kotseli house was built on a mountain face and used by local farmers. Built on a huge rock face, it withstood numerous earthquakes thanks to the fact that it has a very solid foundation. You will notice the remains of the old village only meters away from us where the people had to gradually evacuate the landslides that kept occurring back in the 1800's.
Years later the bottom terrace was also carved from the rock face to make what are now cool and cosy "man cave" bedrooms.
This beautiful home has been owned by a French/English family since the early 80's. It was only 1 year ago that they decided to start renting it out.
Today, you, your family or your group of friends can choose to live in this beautiful private property and enjoy the majestic views over the valley, sit back on the many terraces or just soak in the atmosphere under the shady olive trees.
It is traditionally built with modern features that blend in with the character of the meter thick stone walls. There is no need for air conditioning as it remains nice and cool thanks to the way it was built all those years ago.
There is filtered running water and a fresh water Spring to collect your drinking water only 20 metres from the house.
One has free access to a kitchen garden (vegetables and fruits in season).
There is an outdoor BBQ.
Expectations : Like mentioned in the top description, this is not a modern Villa but more of a unique and authentic kind of place that gives guests a true special feeling of comfort within the walls of an ancient house. It has old fireplaces, wooden beams on the ceiling, crooked walls, the kitchen steps have been carved out of the mountain rock, there is an outdoor access bathroom, low doorways... It is a place that is full of character and will appeal to those avoiding the more "sterile' type of accomodation hotels or other guest houses offer.
During your stay, the landkeeper/host lives in a separate building at the bottom of the property and uses a different entrance/driveway than you. This means you have complete privacy but also someone at hand to deal with any problem that may occur ( water troubles, lost keys...) and also for advice on the beautiful island Andros is !
A gardener might appear at times to water the gardens.
The road to the house is tarred and continues past the property towards other villages and beautiful beaches.
In 2016 Villa Kotseli became an EOT approved furnished villa meaning that it is up to standard according to the Greek Office of Tourism. And of course family friendly :)
Общение с гостями
I am always happy to interact with guests when they need something. I live at the bottom of the property and take care of various things such as keeping the sterna system going, watering the gardens, giving people advice on what to do, running various errands... Most of the time you won't see me but if needs be I can appear :) My aim is to make sure you are having a very pleasant, relaxing and care free holiday.
Другие важные подробности
The villa uses solar power for hot water.
Our tap water comes from the mountain and is perfectly fine to wash, rinse and shower in. However, we fill up our drinking water from the Spring which is 20meters from the house down a flight of steps.
There are a lot of sneaky feral cats roaming around so you have to be careful with any food left out.
We are dog friendly, however there are cats and sheep around, and a road. Your dog must be under control :)
Guests must feel at home! Since they are the only people on the property aside the host, this gives them the chance to spread out, enjoy the terraces late into the night after a home made dinner and not worry so much about immediate neighbours. The house has a BBQ area which they are welcome to use.
If there are any smokers, please make sure cigarettes are put out properly in an ashtray. No smoking indoors please.
