My house is on a small development called Tamango Hill, just outside the town of Nerja. It is a relatively new development consisting of about 40 houses built up the side of a mountain which runs down to the sea. The development consists of a mix of up-market residential and rental property. It is very quiet and peaceful, clean and tidy.

The house itself has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private pool and air conditioning.


The house is on three levels:

Street Level: There is a large garage which is useful for keeping your car nice and cool during the hot summer months. It is also where I store the outdoor furniture and some pool toys.

First level: Up a flight of steps to the main house.

Outside: To the left of the house is a private pool measuring approx. 9 meters by 5 meters. The pool does not have a shallow end – it varies between about 1 meter and 1.8 meters deep, so non-swimmers will need to be supervised at all times. The pool is not heated, but from April to October it is very warm and extremely pleasant to swim and play in.

To the right of the house is a big terrace which is great for sunbathing and relaxing. Sun beds, table and chairs plus two extra large parasols are included in the house inventory.

Along the front of the house is a wide veranda with a bench to sit on and enjoy the view across to the mountain, great for evening drinks and general relaxation in the shade. The area is not troubled much by mosquitoes so it’s pleasant to sit outside in the evenings.

Inside: Walking through the double entrance doors, takes you into a large air conditioned living / dining room, with patio doors and a corner fireplace. Furniture includes two sofas (one converts to a bed), and dining table and chairs.

There is a midi system for CDs and listening to the radio, a small TV with DVD player, and a satellite TV system with English Freeview channels.

The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and hob. The kitchen is tiled top to bottom and has granite worktops and a small breakfast bar with stools. There are the usual kitchen utensils, crockery etc plus a coffee machine and juicer, this is great for fresh orange juice – buy 5kg bags from the market for a couple of euros.

There is a bathroom with shower, wash basin and toilet on this level plus the third bedroom which has two single beds and a wardrobe.

Second Level: Upstairs on the second floor is the master bedroom with fitted wardrobes and its own ensuite shower/bath/toilet/bidet. There is a terrace off the bedroom with table and chairs ideal for sitting and watching the sun rise or set. There is also a small safe in the wardrobe for storing valuables.

The main bathroom with washbasin, shower/bath and toilet is between the master and the second bedroom.

The second bedroom is a similar size and aspect to the master bedroom and has its own terrace with table and chairs. There are two single beds with a wardrobe.

Both of the upstairs bedrooms are air conditioned.

The floors throughout the house are ceramic tiled, which cool underfoot in the summer.

Floor-standing fans keep air moving and the house cool.

The air conditioning units upstairs and down are inverter types so they will heat as well as cool if required. There are electric radiators and the log burning fireplace for use in the cooler months

I've an agent and a pool guy who look after the house. The agent cleans pre and post rentals and exchanges laundry on rentals of two weeks or more.

The pool guy comes once or twice a week to clean and maintain the pool.

Other than that the house is yours - its a quiet and peaceful area, great for relaxing and just chilling out

The steps up to the house and the low(ish) open railings around the terrace may present a safety issue to families with young children. Please take this into account when making a booking.

Please also be aware that access to the pool is not gated so small children need to be supervised.
