Be magically transported back in time to a 19th century restored cottage, complete with traditional hearth and brightly burning peat fire. This is the former home of published author and Irish storyteller, Keith Corcoran. Keith wrote his books 'Journey in Wonder' and 'Stepping Back in Time' in the peace, quiet and comfort of this cosy cottage and guests can browse through his reference library. This is the ideal space to take some time out, yet just 12 minutes by car or taxi from Donegal Town.
This a perfect space for taking a few weeks or a few months timeout. It is an ideal creative space for writing poetry, books, plays, screenplays etc. There is a reference library available to browse and WiFi access for research and communication. Guests have all the advantage of experiencing a traditional cottage but with all the modern comforts and conveniences.
It is not an isolated space as its only 5 minutes drive/20 minute walk to Laghey Village and 12 minutes drive to historic Donegal Town, a very popular tourist town, and sleepy in winter.
Guests will have full access to all the cottage during their stay and sheds for storage of a bicycle, surf board etc.

Guests will be privided with a complimentary but finite supply of turf and seasoned firewood which they can use to keep a fire in the hearth or stove. The stove heats the bedroom radiators upstairs and water for washing up in the kitchen. There is also the back up option of oil central heating which guests will have to purchase for stays of more than 3 weeks in the winter months. Your host can facilitate the purchase of additional turf and firewood for longer term stays.

I am out going and out doorsy. As well as being a traditional storyteller and author, I'm a professional tour guide. Ive also set up a number of weekly community walks for active retired people in Donegal.
I love reading and have a small library in the cottage of over 250 reference books on a wide range of subjects which guests are free to browse.
I also love watching DVD's, particularly biopics and true life stories and have a library of over 200 films and boxsets which guests are also welcome to browse and watch.
I bought the cottage back in 2007 and hope that I have restored it tastefully. There is a good atmosphere in the cottage as it was a traditional space for neighbours to meet over the winter months and exchange stories by the bright glow of a warm turf fire.
My motto is always treat others how you wish to be treated.
