Maison Mid-City is a spacious 2BR home full of vintage charm, 2 blocks from the Canal Streetcar, 10 min from French Quarter. 2 queen beds in private bedrooms + 2 queen sleeper sofas, 1.5 baths, modern kitchen, private patio, easy street parking.

Maison Mid-City is a spacious apartment that combines the vintage charm of New Orleans with modern amenities. It features high-quality construction that was fully renovated post-Katrina. It is a completely independent unit, with its own front and rear entrances, its own front porch, and its own private backyard and patio.

BEDROOMS and BATHROOMS

The two large bedrooms are on the second floor. Each bedroom has its own private door (not shotgun-style), each with a queen-size bed, armchair, vintage fireplace, exposed brick, space to hang clothes, and other amenities.

One of the bedrooms has “blackout” blinds that screen out virtually all outside light; the other has one window with a light-filtering blind plus an uncovered skylight.

Both bathrooms are renovated. The full bathroom is upstairs between the bedrooms; the half-bathroom is downstairs between the kitchen and the living rooms. Plenty of towels are provided (at least 2 bath towels per guests or more).

Plenty of bed linens (100% Egyptian cotton) and towels are provided, as well as a hair-dryer, iron and ironing board, hand soap, bath soap and shampoo. Other toiletries can be provided on request.


KITCHEN

The first floor features a large, fully equipped, up-to-date eat-in kitchen, featuring exposed brick and an artist-designed custom-tiled floor.

The cherry-wood table in the kitchen can expand to seat eight diners, or collapse to seat six or four (eight cushioned dining chairs are provided).

The kitchen is equipped with a modern range, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, tea kettle, and more.

There is an ample supply of pots, pans, bakeware, knives, utensils, mixing bowls, storage containers, measuring cups, kitchen towels, and so on – everything needed for cooking and serving meals.

There are abundant serving plates and bowls, tableware, glassware, wine glasses and coffee mugs, so you don’t have to run the dishwasher after every meal or every round of drinks.

We supply salt and pepper, coffee, tea and filtered water; perishables like butter, olive oil and other groceries can be provided on request.

Also provided are dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, cleaning products, paper towels, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and so on.


LIVING ROOMS

In addition to the kitchen and the half-bathroom, the first floor also has two living rooms, each with a queen-size sleeper sofa.

The entire residence thus has a total of four queen-size beds.

The living rooms have additional vintage armchairs and end tables, providing a comfortable space for relaxation and conversation.

There's also plenty of space in the front room for your coats, hats, bikes and other gear.


INTERNET AND TV

Dual wi-fi networks (5GHz and 2.4GHz) are provided at no cost.

One of the living rooms has a 48" flat-panel HDTV, with an HD antenna to show local channels (no cable tv).

The TV is connected to the wi-fi network, with apps to access all the major Internet streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime.

Guests can access programming from their preferred provider(s) using their own streaming accounts.


MORE AMENITIES

The residence has central air conditioning and heating, with separate zones upstairs and downstairs, each controlled by its own digital thermostat, which guests can adjust to their preferred temperature.

A utility room attached to the back has a full-sized front-loading washer and dryer (detergent is also provided). A broom, dustpan, mop and bucket are also stored there.

New double-layer honeycomb blinds give privacy while allowing soft light into the house (except the front bedroom, which has blackout blinds, as described above).

The residence features warm-spectrum LED lighting throughout.

The large rear patio has a wrought-iron table and four chairs, shaded by our own live oak, for your morning coffee or evening cocktails. String lights around the patio go on automatically at dusk and turn off automatically 4 hours later.

The front door is secured with a keypad lock with coded entry - no need to keep track of a physical key.

The residence has a monitored fire and security alarm system available, which guests can use if they wish (it's easy to use, but you don't have to mess with it if you don't want to).

Maison Mid-City is half of a duplex of two completely independent apartments - the residence has its own front entrance to the street, its own front porch, its own back door to its own private backyard.

You'll have access to the entire apartment, inside and out, including the private backyard. You'll also have access to the utility room (attached to the back of the house, just past the rear door), which houses a full-sized washer and dryer.

The apartment is solely a rental residence. No one lives in it permanently; it has been furnished entirely for our guests. Everything in the residence is there for our guests to enjoy.

We own one small middle-aged dog, who is generally calm and quiet - but we can’t promise that he won’t bark once in a while. There are no pets on the premises of Maison Mid-City.

Also, the residence is located across the street from an elementary school. This has the benefit of increasing the available street parking (since our block has only half the usual number of houses). But school bells do chime a few times a day during the school year.

Bottom line: we truly want you to enjoy your time here, in our house and in our city. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable.

We had a wonderful stay in Mid City. Parking on street was exceptionally easy. We could get to the French Quarter pretty efficiently. The duplex was immaculate. And we were able to have loud fun out in town and come back to quiet beautiful rooms and sleep. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and seasoning and oils nd we made meals for ourselves just as much as we went lut to eat.

Great place in a residential area that is a quick trip on street car to all the main places. Lori and Tom were great hosts. Would definitely recommend.

Lori and Tom, were amazing hosts. They responded to questions very quickly. We arrived in New Orleans earlier than expected and they were accommodating with earlier checkin. Unfortunately our trip was during a hurricane threat and we had to check out earlier than expected and they were understanding and accommodating with that as well. Their home is beautiful. Has been updated. Was very comfortable for my group of 4. Would definitely stay here again.

The place was really great: spacious, clean, exactly as described. Self-check in made it super easy for us and allow us to get into the house at will (which was great because our flight was delayed). Tom and Lori were really nice and helpful. All the communication with the hosts was good too, both before and during our trip. We had a small issue with wifi but were able to solve it quickly based on prompt suggestion from Tom. We used Uber to get to/from the city (mostly French Quarter) which was really reasonable ($6-8 per ride). To summarize, a great experience and we would definitely stay at Lori and Tom's place again!

Lori and Tom own the building and live next door in the other apartment (we live in half of a 'double', and Maison Mid-City is the other half). We've furnished the rental residence with as much loving care as we've given to our own home.

We are happy to answer any questions and, if desired, to give recommendations about this city we love. However, if you prefer, we'll stay out of your way and let you enjoy your visit on your own.

But if something comes up that needs taking care of, we will usually be close at hand, and able to act on it quickly.

Lori is a former attorney and Tom is a hospital librarian. Originally from Chicago, we love New Orleans so much that we pulled up our roots and moved here.

We love living in a warm, luxuriant climate in a city with a unique easygoing attitude, fantastic food, soulful music, exquisitely beautiful architecture, and something fun happening every day of the week.
