My husband and I are renting out our home to accommodate folks who are coming to Philadelphia for the papal visit. I will be out of town and my husband will be staying elsewhere (nearby).
We live in a two-story (plus basement) home with a tiny patio space in the back. There are three bedrooms - one has a queen sized bed, the other can fit an air mattress we will gladly lend to you, and the other has space for someone to bring an air mattress or camp out on the floor if desired. One full bathroom, one half bathroom. We live in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, which is not a wealthy area, but we have lovely neighbors and have never encountered any trouble. The house is 3 blocks from public transportation (Market Frankford line, Allegheny stop). Nearby is a small bodega/mini mart, Walgreens, and Dunkin Donuts within walking distance. The house is not central air conditioned, but there are window units in two of the bedrooms and fans to use elsewhere. No smoking inside please! =)
Access to the whole house, minus the basement (simply because there are lots of tools/etc. there, and the basement is unfinished and mainly storage otherwise). Access to the small patio outside. Feel free to use our dishes, coffee maker, refrigerator (of course), etc. We can provide clean bedding, towels, and sheets.
Общение с гостями
Kent will be available by phone if any needs arise. Otherwise,
we will not be home.
Другие важные подробности
Please note that there is plenty of street parking, though access to papal events will be by public transportation. We are located close to I-95. There is WiFi access and we would leave you the password and connection information.
Please no smoking indoors, and be courteous to our neighbors. There are lots of children on the block who often hang out on our outdoor bench, and we hope that they will still feel welcome to do so! In general, individuals who are interested in keeping the place relatively tidy, washing up after themselves, and mostly looking for an inexpensive place to stay during Pope week. We try and live fairly simply so this is not a home with many many "luxuries", so potential guests could keep that in mind. :) But we do try and position our home to be as welcoming and hospitable as possible.
