We have been airbnb hosts for some time now,and we have thoroughly enjoyed all the folks who have passed through our courtyard. Although we respect our guests' privacy, we love sharing a moment in their journey, and they appreciate our unique home.
Our airbnb guests are the best!!!!
Fresh and recently re-decorated, 2nd floor apartment in the heart of Boerne on Frederick Creek. Full kitchen and bath (dishes and linens provided), dining nook, washer dryer, full-sized refrigerator and stove/oven, microwave, 32-inch flat screen tv with basic cable on swivel wall mount, and internet access. The bed is from the 1930s, a double with new mattress and box spring, wooden headboard and footboard. The tub has a shower. The sofa does not make into a bed. A small table and chairs are on the balcony overlooking the garden for morning coffee.
10 minute walk to Main Street filled with antique shops and restaurants. 40 minute drive from San Antonio airport. Private entrance, off-street parking.
What makes Boerne special:
Every month, Second Saturday and Sunday, crafts, art and wine: crafts market with food and music, just a 5-minute walk from here.
Every Saturday: Farmer's market at the Herff Farm run by Cibolo Nature Center.
Every month, second Tuesday -- Live at the Library. Beautiful music at Boerne's fabulous new library.
We are a quick walk from the Kendall Inn, trailhead for the Heart of Boerne Trail, which connects to the Hill Country Mile, a landscaped walkway connecting downtown along the Cibolo Creek. Walk among trees and native plants from the North end of Main Street to River Road. Other hike and bike paths follow the Old Number Nine train route through town.
Guests have their own gated entrance to our shared courtyard. We only ask that they close and lock the gate behind them, and that they be mindful of our dog, Charlie, who is rather blasé about guests at this point.
Общение с гостями
We completely respect our guests' privacy, but we often give tours of our award-winning home (Fine Homebuilding Best Retirement Home of 2013), or if they want to chat about their travels, we love sitting in the courtyard for a chat!
No smoking inside.
We (Nancy and Jon) live in a sustainable, energy-efficient home in the heart of Boerne, TX. Jon is the architect. I teach college English and Spanish. Our home was featured in 2013 as the Best Retirement Home in Fine Homebuilding magazine's national Design Awards. We are both proponents of the responsible use of nature's resources, and we both love working and being in nature. I think the sharing economy is terrific, and I recently attended an airbnb host conference to learn more about it.
The apartment for rent is self-contained and is across the courtyard from our home, with its own entrance. We moved to Boerne 8 years ago from New England, although I grew up in San Antonio. We lived in the apartment while our home was being finished, so it has everything necessary for a longer stay. We like the fact that our home is walking distance to a variety of shops and restaurants in town. Our favorites are Valeria, the Dodging Duck Brewhouse (open 7 days/wk.), and Mary's Tacos for breakfast, but we also love Bistro 259 and the adjacent Biergarten for live music, the Bear Moon Bakery (breakfasts and lunch), Cibolo Creek Brewing Co., the Boerne Wine Bar, the Cypress Grill and the Creek Restaurant--all 10 minutes walking past the creeks in town. A large grocery store (HEB) is 1 mile away. We enjoy our eclectic neighborhood, which is slowly becoming gentrified, but for now there are chickens wandering freely and deer grazing along the creek behind the house. It's truly country in the city!
For outings, there's Lost Maples (1 hour) and Guadalupe River State Parks (20 min.), Fredericksburg (45 min.) and Enchanted Rock 1 hour away. Boerne City Lake offers swimming in the summer. Only 12 miles from here is Comfort, with it's well-preserved downtown and the beautiful Bending Branch winery. Boerne itself boasts a well-known nature center, hike and bike trails, Second Saturday arts, crafts, and gallery hopping, and numerous other points of interest, which we will be glad to let you know about if you're interested. See the GUIDEBOOK for recommended restaurants.
