Общение с гостями

I talk with a home stay person at night when we have dinner.
It is very interesting for me to talk with them because we have a different culture and custom.

Logement correct mais loin du bus par ailleurs peu frequent donc cela induit des pertes de temps. Petit déjeuner européen et frugal. Hôte serviable.

I enjoyed staying in Tanaka san's house! This was the first place I stayed when I moved to Kyoto while looking for a more permanent place. You can reach the city centre by bus (20 min), but if you want to go to the university, then you need to take two buses (40 min) - Tanaka san drew a map for me with the location of the bus stops. When I arrived, he picked me up from Yamashina train station with his car and the last day he brought me to the university as I was carrying heavy luggage. Both him and his wife are very friendly and make you feel at home. Every day they prepared breakfast (cereals and different fruits) and also they offered me the option to have dinner with them and the rest of hosts for a small extra amount (around 1,000JPY per day). In my case this was not convenient as I was usually coming back late to the house, but I must say that the food looked very delicious! It is also possible to use their washing machine to wash your clothes. There are 3 or 4 rooms and my understanding is that there are guests staying short term and some stay longer, but they were all very friendly when I was there! I would recommend this place to anyone moving to Kyoto.

Pros: Unique and nice Japanese style home. Room is spacious, clean, cozy and very comfortable. Tanaka was very nice and picked me up from the station. His wife was also very lovely. Cons: Kyoto's bus system is not as user friendly as Tokyo's. For that reason this place was a bit farther than I would have liked to. I would recommend staying somewhere closer to the city center. This is the only con, and it is more about Kyoto's bus system than Tanaka, he and his wife were excellent and the place is very nice.

Tanaka-san and him his wife were really friendly. The dinner I get on arrival was delicious. House and room looks exactly as was on pictures. Clean, quiet. Tanaka-san explain me how to take the bus to Kyoto. It's about 20 min ti get to center.

The description and pictures are accurate. Mr. Tanaka was a great host. He has been renting out his house for 30 years and has extensive experience with long term stays for university students. I would recommend most people to stay here for at least part of their trip. As listed, the house is in a suburban area. It's an interesting situation. It's possible to walk to Kyoto station in 90 mins, but things become suburban very quickly after passing through a low set of mountains/hills. Bus service on weekdays is about 3x an hour and on weekends 2x per hour. To some, this will be a flat negative. If you want to be downtown shopping a ton and never far from a restaurant, this isn't for you. What Mr. Tanaka's house allowed me to do was do a bunch of exploring that I might not have otherwise done. There are two road routes into Kyoto center and one mountain trail to fushimi inari. The mountain trail and one of the roads are partially surrounded by bamboo forests which are more natural and imo better than the more famous tourist forest on the western side of kyoto. Many people come to Kyoto to see a quiet kind of life with city convenience and access to historical areas. Mr. Tanaka's house fits this nicely. I recommend staying in a second place downtown for a night or two before leaving to do your souvenir shopping when you might be carrying a lot of stuff.

The host Yuzuru fetched and sent us back to the train station. He provided clear directions to get around and even prepared breakfast every morning! Room was cosy and clean.

I like hiking and golf.
So if I have a chance to go to Europe, I will go to Switerland.
