This compact twin room is set within our recently renovated farm outhouse. The room is small and clean, yet functional! With a larger shared living space, including the kitchen and living room area, & spacious shower room, with washing machine.
The twin room is set in a former farm outhouse which has been recently renovated to create a simple, yet cosy sleeping and living space. All of the bedrooms can be found on the upper mezzanine level of the outhouse. In this space we have sectioned it off to create the three sleeping areas. All of the rooms lock individually for guest’s peace of mind so although the living space is shared all bedrooms remain private. On the upper level is also a small communal sitting area with a pull out bed. Please note, there is a skylight on the mezzanine level, but the rooms do not have their own skylights. The pictures of the property, we feel, give an accurate representation of the rooms themselves. The spacious lower level of the outhouse is shared by all of the guests. Down here you will find an open plan living/kitchen area and a large shower room.
Bedrooms: The rooms can all be rented out separately, we have two double rooms and a twin room. Each room has a small chest of drawers, a table lamp as well as a main light. All of the rooms have their own plug sockets also. We do have the sofa bed and camp beds that can be made available upon request.
Kitchen: The kitchen comes fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, small oven and double hob, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The kitchen is also equipped with the basics including crockery and cutlery. Shower room: Large shower room area with toilet, sink and large walk in shower. The guests washer is also located in here. Living space: Open plan area with large dining room table and chairs, two sofas and two single arm chair seats, also the TV and DVD for guests. There is a spacious utility area at the front of the outhouse with ample space to store everyone’s outdoor clothing! The property has been newly renovated, and is well maintained throughout with clean and neutral décor, it has all the necessities to act as a base away from home.

We like to think of ourselves as easy going and informal hosts. As Arabaer is not only a working farm, but our home, it is likely there will be someone onsite at all times to help deal with any enquiries you may have during your stay. The Outhouse is self contained and guests will have access to their room individually and then access to all of the shared living space during their stay. We also welcome guests to enjoy the area in and around the farm, there is some spectacular scenery to take in and plenty of farm animals to say hi to! We are a horse farm primarily, breeding , training and selling Icelandic horses and we invite you to meet these beautiful creatures throughout your stay with us. There are a mixture of family and workers here, often of varying nationalities , and we are happy to chat with guests and offer advice on places to visit, eat , shop and so forth over a coffee. As the house is self contained with a fully functioning kitchen it is ideal for guests who are happy to do their own thing, although please bear in mind you may be sharing with other guests during your stay.
Другие важные подробности
Arabaer is ideally situated to experience an authentic, rural working Icelandic horse farm whilst still maintaining relative ease of access to the amenities of the nearest big town Selfoss (the largest town in South Iceland) only 26km away.
To the back of the property we have access through our land to the river þjorsá, and we are spoiled year round by breath-taking sunrises and sunsets. Views from outside the house take in some beautiful vistas with the mountain Ingólfsfjall, and volcano Hekla, in the distance. On a clear day Eyjafjallajokull (the ash cloud causing volcano) can be sighted from the back garden. You may also witness the majestic northern lights whilts staying in the house.
Many activities can be enjoyed onsite or in surroundings including, horse-riding, fishing and hiking.
The house has a sizeable utility area which can store all outdoor clothing, boots and shoes, which is ideal being on a farm. We would kindly ask that there is no smoking inside the premises. The house has open access wifi for guests to enjoy, we would like to note though that the connection can occasionally be unstable during bad weather, though this is rarely a problem for long. We want you to feel at home during your stay and hope that you will treat the house in the same respectful manner you would treat your own. Also, please be considerate of any other guests who may also be staying in the property.

Hi, I live here at Arabaer with my husband Saevar and our four young children. Arabaer is a busy working farm where we train, breed and sell Icelandic horses. We also farm vegetables including turnips and carrots, this keeps us all busy! I am originally from Scotland and have travelled, lived and worked abroad in several places including New Zealand and Holland before settling in Iceland around 9 years ago. My husband Saevar is Icelandic and grew up around here, we run the business together and enjoy our busy lifestyle with the farm, children, and various pets ;-)
We speak English and Icelandic here on the farm.
