Like Den, the deluxe mud chalet is smaller in size compared to the other mud chalets, but it is downright comfy! It comes with a lounge area and a balcony. It accommodates 2+1 people.
Burrow has a large elegant bed made of recycled wooden poles that add a very rustic and earthly feel to it. The chalets are made of wattle and daub -- traditional materials used to make houses that are essentially made of mud water and straw – that keep the chalets naturally cool inside. The private bathroom has a shower facility. The deluxe mud chalets can be taken along with the tree house suite above it in a combo deal. Complimentary mineral water and tea/coffee is available. You can also avail free Wi-Fi services.
Saraii Village is your home away from home and in keeping with that spirit, guests have access to all areas of the property (except private rooms of other guests, of course!). There is a restaurant and hangout common area for all guests of Saraii Village as well.

For Your Consideration -
Welcome to Saraii Village, a journey into authentic Sri Lankan living.
We welcome you to open your mind to a new holiday experience, in order to enjoy what we offer for the adventurous traveler. As we strive to maintain authenticity in your experience, please be aware of a few house rules and features of your stay -
Saraii is created on the concept of authenticity and as such, your tree-house/ wattle & daub hut accommodation features the architectural styles of rural Sri Lankan homes using as little synthetic or superficial frills as possible.
The guest will be responsible for his/her own safety at all times during the stay at the property.
Because we pride ourselves on conserving nature and leaving it untouched, you may encounter wildlife within the premises, as part of the Saraii experience. These can range from larger endemic creatures to a myriad of insects that include mosquitoes, bugs and harmless reptiles such as frogs and the occasional snake. As such, we encourage you to carry your own repellent at all times.
In the event of rain, you may experience some rainwater leakages in your room, due to tree branches that have grown into your roof.
Saraii is 100% eco-conscious and as such, does not offer hot water, adjustable showers or air conditioning. We invite you to enjoy natural comforts that are authentic to the rural island lifestyle.
You may on occasion hear the sounds of surrounding peacocks and wildlife during your stay. Consider it mother nature’s serenade to you!
Tree-house suites are given to mild creaking, due to the gentle sway of the trees upon which they are built.
Please excuse the barking of the community dogs in the surrounding area – they are our own little security guards!
All cuisine at Saraii are Sri Lankan with a touch of western fusion.
Please do not leave food out in your room or open bags as they may attract thieving squirrels or monkeys.
Our natural salt water pool comes complete with a delightful family of resident ducks!

I set up Saraii Village as I love traveling to this part of the Island, where it's close to the beach and to a host of nature reserves, lakes and historical sites... and the land being Organic is a huge plus too...
I am based in Colombo but I travel frequently to Saraii. Hence, most often I do not get to meet the AirBnB guests, but you will be looked after well by the caretakers and staff at the hotel.
I've open up my treasured getaway to guests as I would like them to enjoy and experience it the same way I have... I am a believer that each of us can do something in our own small way to help others understand why and how to respect and take care of our environment. I welcome all responsible travelers to come see Saraii Village, which will showcase the true essence of Sri Lanka...
