Rue Oberkampf street is very famous and lively Paris.
Once a simple shopping street structuring the southern part of the Faubourg du Temple, the street became a fashionable place in the year 1903. Many cafés and restaurants, concert halls opened in the street - especially in its eastern half, near Ménilmontant - and its surroundings, as in the rue Saint-Maur and rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud. Most of the old workshops have meanwhile been converted into art galleries or offices inviting architects, artists and designers.
The street is served by several subway stations: to the west by Oberkampf (on lines 5 and 9), in the center by Parmentier (line 3), and to the east by Ménilmontant (line 2) .
