An 1820s Mews with a contemporary interior & the odd quirky twist. It feels like you're in the country, tucked away up a lane, with local cafes and shops a few steps away. 2 minutes from the nearest bus stop & BR train station. 20 mins into central London, 10 minutes to the O2 & N. Greenwich. With the villages of Greenwich, Blackheath & Charlton nearby for plenty of quirky places to visit. The Mews is a place you can call home but if you are looking for a 5* hotel it may not be for you.
Are you ready to Step back in time, to when highwaymen roamed the area? Initial responses from visitors who step through the gate are “I didn’t expect to find a secret place like this hidden away in the city”, as you will see it is quirky and unusual and full of character. Charlton is a little piece of England with a diverse mix of culture and tastes. I will Welcome you to my mews Coach House home built in 1820.
The interior of the property is fairly modern and a tad quirky. The comfortable double bedroom available is located on the top and is very secluded and quiet. It has a very comfortable bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, hair dryer etc. and a lovely view out on to the courtyard garden. There are two reception areas equipped with tv and w-ifi, one with a wood burner, perfect for relaxing after a long day shopping/exploring London town or the surrounding area. The Kitchen is galley style and well equipped and use of the washing machine is not a problem.
With 9 overland trains an hour into London only 2 minutes walk away and easy access to O2 and the nearby London villages of Blackheath, Greenwich and Woolwich, it's a base with lots of options. The perfect explorers location with many sites, pubs, restaurants and parks within strolling distance. North Greenwich tube (next to the O2) is only 8 minute bus ride away.
There is much to see in London, I always encourage visitors to take a stroll in Charlton itself (which spans from the river and Thames barrier up to and through the parks bordering on Greenwich/Blackheath/Woolwich) it still has a village atmosphere and is composed of Charlton House, which is the finest Jacobean mansion in the London area (mentioned in the Doomsday books), the old village green in front of the House, the parish church of St Luke, and the village street. Between 50 BC and 250 AD there was a large Romano-British settlement on a hilltop site to the north of the present village. There was a Saxon village near the present site, a church has been there since the 11th century. There are a few interlinked parks for tea or a run or both or to go and see the local community farm. There are beautiful views to be seen from Maryanne Park. There is also a Lido that is a treat (5 min walk from Charlton House) with a 50-metre outdoor pool and is a popular spot in all weathers, as the water is heated.
Bedroom, lounge upstairs and use of kitchen for coffee/tea making and helping yourself to cereal/toast. I will provide a breakfast if you like or you can store some salads/drinks etc in the fridge no problem at all. There is a Sainsbury's local around the corner.

As regularly as they like, I'm around quite a bit. Make myself available if required for London guidance or information etc. Home away from home, my house isn't available all of the time as I have friends & family over from abroad a lot. It is a home, not a business and if that is what you are looking for during your stay then my home is your home. Being a Londoner I can give you the inside scoop and help you enjoy your sejourn, so let me know ;)

As it is a secret space and a mews it is fairly typical of the type tucked away behind other houses with access via a lane-way. It entrance to the lane does not look the most inviting "hey we are in London" but I quite like that as unless you know it you wont nec. find it. It is what a Mews is supposed to be tucked away from prying eyes. The location has confused a few people trying to find it in the past but if you follow the directions you receive on booking there should be no problem. There is residents parking with a 2 hour free stay on my road so you can park free from 4pm until 11am but there are free parking roads nearby, where you can park the rest of the time.
Located 2 minutes walk from Charlton train station and a 20 maybe 30 (depending on pace) minute stroll to nearby villages (Blackheath, Greenwich) and North Greenwich tube station. Canary Wharf and Central London (Canon Street or Charing Cross) are within 20 minutes travelling time by train. You have many choices where travel is concerned river, tube, DLR, cable car, bus or foot tunnel or a combination of the above. The Night Tube runs on the Jubilee line which is a 10 minute bus ride form the house on Friday and Saturday nights. City airport and ExCel Centre are also within 25 minutes door to door (DLR and train or cab), there are plenty of buses a few paces from the house as well (lovely way to see London) which go into the centre and to surrounding areas. So whether you are here to explore London or to attend a conference or concert at the O2 you couldn’t find a better place to rest your weary head.
No major List, apart from :
- mutual respect, and consideration, ask if you need anything.
- communicating if you are delayed or if there is an issue with previously agreed ETA or booking.
- I can arrange for earlier or later check-in but will need some warning and email to discuss
- there is a large kitchen table where food can be eaten and food can be left in the fridge/cupboard, please don't eat in the bedroom
- make sure the booking is in your name and booked for yourself and not a 3rd party, security checks are important for everyone concerned.
- checking out on time to facilitate room clean and letting me know if you think I should change anything to make your stay better.
- there are parking restrictions locally but there is free parking after 6pm until 11am the following morning and free parking on some roads nearby
- you will need to check that the trains/tubes are running as I can't control the engineering ;)
- my house is fairly central but it is not in the centre of london (even though it's easily reached in 20mins)
If you'd like a London tour and local detail just let me know, if I'm free I''m more than happy to show you around

Born In London within the sound of Bow Bells (that's very important ;)) I moved to Ireland where I grew up and where most of my family still lives. I returned to London in my early 20's and have lived between both every since. I love to travel, most recently South America where I will return and tick more places off, it's vast and I need to explore it all. I also have a half baked plan for a Camper Van odyssey around Aus/NZ one of these days. I love experiencing new cultures and places, chatting to global souls and visiting the local haunts with my camera taking memories and cooking and tasting the food. I am a photographer, writer, musician, interiors, architecture and design freak and sometimes a Program Manager/Analyst Programmer/Troubleshooter who likes meeting new people, learning new skills, exploring and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I love to stay with locals when I travel as it gives you a different experience and makes you feel more part of a place. I love London and I try to welcome all of my guests and make them feel like they are at home, a local if you like!. I have walked all over London and love to guide people to hidden places, so if you have any questions about my hometown then feel free to ask, I will try my best to furnish you with the answers. I seek to make my guests experience of London and UK special, whether you are a solo or a couple of traveller(s) all are welcome. My house is not a hotel, it’s a home and I open it up when I can to allow others to experience local London. So if staying here sounds like your bag then I look forward to meeting you sometime soon ;).
