Enjoy beautiful sunsets from the front porch of this wheelchair accessible two bedroom cottage. Remote feeling, yet 10 minutes from town, colleges and malls. Plentiful birds, nature and fishing. Great swimming in summer.
The "Yellow Cottage" or "Sunset Retreat" is an idyllic spot with the feeling of a former, simpler time. The drive in to it is a narrow dirt road which can be muddy if it's rainy. You can park quite close to the fenced-in back patio which is handy for containing small family members and pooches.
The distinctive feature of the cottage is it's front room with cathedral ceiling and glass (& screens) on 3 sides. The front door takes you onto the porch with a fantastic view of the lake. Ramps can be positioned at the back (entry) door and at this "front door" making the cottage and large front porch wheelchair friendly. There are about 20 steps down to the docks and railroad tracks between the stairs and the shore. The salt/coal train comes by rather slowly twice a day or less, enhancing the rustic feeling to the place. The train engineers often give a friendly "toot" as children wave to them. Hiking up the stream bed in a cool nearby gorge is a favorite activity on hot days when playing or laying near the lake gets tiresome! There is one full size double bed, two twin beds & a fold-out couch (2 person). Furnishings are quite old & worn (a dog-friendly place). Kitchen is well equipped.
This is an enchanting place to relax and create great memories.
Guests are expected to respect the neighbors' privacy and property. Guests can use both docks in front of the cottage. Loud parties and inviting huge crowds is not permitted. Please be sure pets have flea/tick protection and properly clean up & dispose of droppings. It is appreciated if you would bring any complaints directly to the management rather than to the internet. We aim to give you a pleasant stay.

I am sometimes staying in the cabin next door or visiting the lake with friends. I am usually someplace nearby and texting is the best way to connect with me. When occasionally out of town I will have a friend or neighbor watching over the property.

I am a woodworker/carpenter by trade and a farmer/dreamer at heart.
I like water-skiing, snow-skiing and anything that feels like flying.
A fan of home-made music, I enjoy dancing, singing, talking about anything.
I enjoy sharing my unusual, amazing place which is in a great location.
My accommodations are basic though--nothing fancy, just comfortable.
