Betsy was an absolutely wonderful host! I've stayed in a few AirBnB, so I know the drill. She was more than accommodating and such a pleasure the hang out with. If I am in KC again, I would definitely stay with her.
I had a late flight and didn't get to her house until 12:30AM. She made it completely hassle free for me to arrive and get settled. The place was tidy, clean, and comfortable.
I arrived early enough to explore downtown KC a little and spend a little time with Betsy before my plans for the weekend. She was great to talk to and I got to monopolize Lady, the four month old puppy she has. So cute!
Betsy made my stay very enjoyable. She is so approachable. I really appreciated that.
Loved waking up to birds chirping. My room looked out over the backyard. It was like I was in a cabin in the woods. So peaceful.
A few things that other guest will want to know:
This is an older home, which means that it is NOT a hotel. The floors are extremely creaky, so if you're a light sleeper...well....
I stayed in April, so the weather wasn't that bad, but the humidity will get ya. Betsy provided a fan (in the closet) and I opened the windows in addition to having the fan on when it got too hot. I did not ask her to turn on the A/C. I don't like to turn on the A/C in my own house unless it's unbearable, so...yeah.
There's a puppy on the premises, but she keeps the house really clean and I never heard the dog bark during quiet hours.
Betsy and her son are smokers, but she doesn't smoke in the house.
Disclaimer! I am highly sensitive to smells, so I could smell a very slight cigarette smell when I arrived. I found out later that her son was most likely the source. If he smokes in his basement apartment, it filters up through the floors. I had a bit of a headache from that in combination with the fact that I had just flown across the country and was dehydrated. By the second night there was no smoke smell.
I mentioned this to Betsy immediately and I'm sure that's why there was such a difference in the two nights.
Great place to stay! I definitely recommend it.
