Riverview Farm is a self catering property and hence certainly in the UK you would not expect ‘room service’ such as rubbish removed daily – however I would have happily removed and dealt with any rubbish if asked. I provide bin liners and a bin and there is a rubbish/ recycling box immediately outside the property for its sole use. The rubbish is collected from there weekly by the refuse collectors. Details are in my visitor book.
As the farm is a self catering property it would not be expected to serve breakfast and your breakfast arrangements are your own. There is a newly fitted kitchen with double oven, toaster, microwave etc and all crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. I will happily provide but do not serve, a simple breakfast of fresh bread & eggs, jam and fruit on request but it up to guests to prepare this themselves. I offered this option in an email which was declined. I state that I can provide not serve a simple breakfast – maybe this doesn’t translate the same way in the US. This is a working farm with its work load focussed in the morning and that would make serving breakfast unrealistic. If you choose to dine out for breakfast it is not a reflection on the property you are staying but a personal preference including both time and location.
The accommodation shower room was totally refitted during the spring of 2018. The new shower is 1000cm by 80cm which is the largest the room could accommodate and is a very good size for the UK. There is normally no issue for people getting in and out and I have many larger sized guests than your example of 14 stone. The shower is a Triton shower a very well recognised UK brand with an excellent reputation. It has a 10cm head with 3 pattern settings & its operating noise level is normal & usual for the UK. The water here is very soft so judicious use of shampoo etc is best. I have used the shower myself with no problems – and I have long hair as have many guests. This is a large property with a long run of pipes so unfortunately there is a (not unreasonable) time lag for the hot water to reach everywhere. The shower is electric and hot instantly. There is a free standing towel airer provided in the accomodation for bath towels.
The location of the property is a short way from a good road down a country lane which is wide by Cornish standards! Cornwall is re known for its pretty lanes and it is part of its unspoilt character. Unfortunately I have no jurisdiction over the council who cut back the vegetation but it is done regularly.
An external ariel is the only way to get TV reception here without incurring a huge expense installing an ariel at the top of the hill – it usually produces a very good picture and I am sorry you were unable to get good reception. Thank you for pointing out that the controller needed new batteries – they have been replaced.
We have recently upgraded to superfast wifi which is available in every room in the house – the annexe loo is the furthest from the router so it is reassuring to know it can be accessed there.
I care very much about my guests as reflected in my reviews and do whatever I can to ensure they enjoy their stay an example of this is offering you accommodation in my own home when you forgot to check out on the correct day by the right time and didn’t have accommodation booked for your last night before your flight home. I’m glad you enjoyed the chocolate brownies!
