We always aim to make sure our guests enjoy their stay. We regularly communicate to see if there are any issues so that we can address them. Unfortunately, although we communicated with this guest upon their arrival, we never heard from them during their stay suggesting anything was up and consequently did not have the chance to make their stay more comfortable. Indeed, we’ve had several other families relocate to our home because their other Airbnb wasn’t clean and have never any complaints. That said, we tried to reflect on what they said to see what we could have done more to improve in the future. While we’ve hosted over 30 other families (and always had the same pets) no one else complained of wet dog smell. We did have some scented air wick candles plugged in, that the guests had unplugged, so perhaps we won’t use those again. However, we did see there was a bit of dog hair on one of the pillows on the couch, and a cobweb in the upper corner of our stairs, that we had missed when we vacuumed. This won’t happen again. Regarding their overall impression of our home, the only communication we had from the guest was after check out they expressed anger over the ducks losing in over-time. I appreciate their frustratio, and I bet emotions over something that heartbreaking for a big sports fan can color someone’s experience (they had flown across the country for this specific game). While we can’t control the outcome of sports, we always focus on making sure our home is comfortable for your family or friends for anyone staying at our home no matter who they are cheering for.
