The Rose Cottage is a cosy granite traditional style cottage set in the beautiful Borris House estate. This rural location is a fantastic place from which to explore the stunning Blackstairs and Barrow Valley. It has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 people.
The Rose Cottage is one of three two storey granite semi-detached cottages situated in the Victorian farmyard courtyard of the historic Borris House. Built over 150 years ago, this traditional style cottage is very picturesque with beautiful cut stone granite and roses growing around the door. There is a nice lawn area to sit outside on those long warm evenings and parking is situated just outside the door.
Accommodation downstairs consists of a kitchen/diner and a separate sitting room. Upstairs has three bedrooms, one ensuite double bedroom, one other double bedroom, a single bedroom with bunk beds and a separate shower room. The cottage can sleep 6 people in total. The sitting room has cottage style furniture, electric wall radiators and an original open fire for a cosy night in. The cottage comes complete with a dishwasher, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, but no washing machine. We also provide all the bed linen, towels, soaps and shampoos. We don’t provide hair dryers as standard but could find one if necessary! We can also provide cots and high chairs if you request them in advance. We also provide a small supply of the basics for your stay, such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning equipment, loo roll, cooking oil, tea-bags, coffee, salt and pepper, etc.
We think we have everything you will need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
This is a very quiet and peaceful location with stunning views of the Backstairs Mountains, Mount Brandon and the Barrow valley. Surrounded by woodland and scenic countryside, this is a perfect place to take a break, switch off from the world and immerse yourself in nature. This is also a working farm with sheep lambing and mares foaling in the Spring and early summer and although you are welcome to visit the animals we do ask you to please be careful to shut all gates behind you and to show the utmost respect to these animals for your own safety.
We regularly run house tours of the historic Borris House during the summer months, Monday to Friday, please enquire if you would like to take a tour and learn more about the McMorrough Kavanagh family.
