Gorgeous room, full bathroom & garden view in character home close to downtown.
If you want to make breakfast, there`s dishes in the room and a fridge/microwave available or, for a small surcharge, from May 1 through September 15, I'd love to serve you breakfast.
This light and airy room with a full bathroom just outside your door is on the main level of my character home in the Old City Quarter. The room has a queen bed with 100% cotton linens and down duvet, plus flatscreen TV with Netflix. There are dishes and a coffee pot in the room and a bar fridge and microwave available for your exclusive use.
Your space includes all the appliances you need if you wish to make your own breakfast. If you would prefer B&B style, I am happy to serve continental-style breakfast for a small surcharge ($5 per person). My standard breakfast consists of fresh home-baked bread, fruit plate, yogurt, granola and, of course, coffee, tea and juice. My chickens are always happy to provide fresh eggs and I always have cold meats and cheeses as I know this is what many European guests prefer. I try to accommodate guests needs, so if you have a special request for breakfast, please let me know in advance. You are welcome to share my living room and the outside space. The large back yard includes a two level deck with seating area.

If you want your privacy, of course it's available, but experience tells me that most guests who choose this type of accommodation want to interact with their host and I'm more than happy to share my home with you and to offer advice and information about local sights and where to go in and around Nanaimo.

Over the years I've had many, many guests who have a set itinerary and have booked only one night and then said "if we'd only known how lovely it was here, we'd have stayed longer". I encourage guests to stay longer than one night so that they have time to enjoy all there is to do and see in the area. There's great hiking and cycling trails. You can rent kayaks for the day or take a the little ferry to Protection Island for a pint at Canada’s only floating pub and restaurant (while you wait for your meal, the kids can fish through the floor!). Nanaimo is called "the hub city" for a good reason. It's a great jumping off point to explore the mid Island - take a day trip to Chemainus or visit some of the great wineries to the south. Head north for the day to Coombs (everyone has to visit Goats on the Roof!), and Englishman River Falls, take the kids to mini golf or spend the day on the miles of sand at Rathtrevor Beach.
You will be given a key to my home and I ask that you be respectful as far as noise is concerned. If you stay out late, please be quiet when you arrive home and make sure you lock the door. I have a dog and a cat. I will consider allowing a small, well-behaved dog, but please let me know in advance if you are travelling with a pet. This is a no-smoking home, but you may smoke on the lower outside deck. Please request an ashtray if you wish to smoke outside.

For the past 7 years I ran a B&B from the home in the Departure Bay area of Nanaimo that I shared with my late husband. I loved hosting guests from all over the world but the huge house was too much for me to run on my own. Now that I'm settled in my lovely character home in the Old City Quarter I have decided that I would like to continue to invite guests into my home. Whether you're visiting on business or here as a tourist, I would love to meet you and share my home with you. I promise you'll go away wishing you could have stayed longer!
