I call this my Diego Rivera/Frida Kahlo room because it has prints from both artists and the walls are a beguiling bitter orange color. Lots of light, an antique mahogany sleigh bed, and lovely linens will make your stay comfortable and serene. WIFI. NOTE: This is a double bed (not a King or Queen).
This handsome bedroom is on the second floor and looks out over ancient sugar maples that are spectacular in the autumn. While the room is cozy, the antique mahogany sleigh bed will welcome you with a great night sleep. WIFI. NOTE: This is a double bed -- not a King or Queen.
Guest share access to a full bathroom with me--your host. It is always spotless and has a great shower and bath. I do have a TV downstairs in my living room and if I'm not using it, just ask and I'll show you how to turn it on. There is also a lovely enclosed 3-season front porch excellent for reading, watching the sky, and listening to NPR. Finally, I have a great patio with chairs for reading under the lilacs and other trees.

If there's anything you need, just ask me. If I can help, I will. Some guests prefer to be solitary and keep to themselves. That's fine with me. If you want to chat and get to know one another, we can do so over a cup of tea. I provide tea or coffee and a very light Continental breakfast to my short-term guests. Please let me know if you have any allergies.

If you plan to rent a car, there is an Enterprise Car Rental here in Waltham and I think they will even pick you up at my house and take you to their place when you want to pick up your car. I have off-street parking for one car. Also, there are stairs that lead up to my house, so unfortunately my home is not handicapped accessible. I have a fine Baldwin piano if you like to play.
I expect guests to be respectful of my house and of my private space. Generally, I'm quiet and in the evenings either read or watch tv or listen to music. I do not expect guests to be partying in their room--there are lots of good restaurants and pubs in Waltham where you can let off steam. While I do not allow cats, I am flexible on the issue of dogs. Let's talk about it.
I'm a freelance writer who works from home, mostly. My house is a place where people instantly feel comfortable. I'm intelligent, occasionally funny, thinking about getting a puppy (for years), and often go to Connecticut to help care for my very elderly parents. I'm working on a memoir, love movies, jazz, am an adventurous foodie and good cook, and am not neurotic or weird. You shouldn't be either.
I read a lot, am thinking about revisiting Italy (which I love love love), and looking forward to my own week on Cape Cod in July. I will want to chat to get to know you, unless you say you'd prefer to be left alone. I also know a lot about Waltham's many excellent restaurants and can guide you to a great place at many price levels.
