This is a great location on the edge of downtown, in north Berkeley. The bedroom and bath are at the back of the house with its own separate entrance from rest of the house. Amazing coffee shops and restaurants are literally a block or two away.
It is a short walk to wonderful restaurants and shops, UC Berkeley campus, excellent theater and easy access to public transportation to anywhere in the San Francisco Bay area.
This is classic 1906 Berkeley brown-shingle home recently fully earthquake retrofitted. The guest room access is in the back of the house with its own separate entrance.
The bed is a top rated, memory foam, deluxe queen sized mattress with Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforter and woven bamboo coverlet. The en-suite bath is stocked with extra touches like fresh flowers from the yard, scented bath-salts, hand cream, shampoo and robes. Другие важные подробности
Generally the internet and mobile phone reception is good but there is no television in the room. (Lots of books.)
The back door entrance to the room is up a set of 7 steps on a small back porch.
Eco-Friendly: We have an active organic garden which has been in place for 30 years. We have guest taught classes at a local botanical college on cultivation and propagation of herbs and food plants. On the property are composting and vermiculture (worm bins for food scraps). If you are interested in learning more we'd be happy to show you around. As much as possible we are an eco-friendly household using non-toxic cleaning supplies, recycle plastics, bottles, cans and paper with our city program and recently purchased a new ultra low-water front-load washing machine now that we are hosting AirBnB. The next step is solar. Your stay with us helps us make the transition!
Pet: We have a pet blue-crown conure (small parrot) who lives in the room next to this one. He is not noisy at night but sometimes makes noise during the day. If he does disturb you we can relocate him to another part of the house at your request :-)
*This is a non-smoking house.
*Check out is by noon.
*Be aware we do not have on-site parking. Street parking is available in our area but there is a 2-hr limit M-F 10AM - 5PM. We are only a short walk from BART and other rapid transit connections to the entire area.
*Please be thoughtful of noise. Though you will be free to come and go without disturbing us, please keep noise to a minimum after 10pm.
*We do recycle plastics, cans, bottles and paper and if you want to help feel free to deposit them in the recycling bins next to the house or separate them out for us to take out when you leave.
We are retired professionals. I teach music theory and composition in my home and free-lance in media production. My husband initially worked as a college professor in western civ and philosophy and later moved into nutritional sales and consulting.
I've traveled extensively making documentary films and interviews and my main requirement in a place to stay is that it is clean, safe and non-smoking. Friendly would be nice too :)
As hosts we enjoy meeting new people and helping them discover our neighborhood. We have a home organic garden, love cooking and learning about healthy food and take pleasure in the nearby parks, hikes and outdoor activities available in our area. My husband is an avid golfer.
