Lisa offers a quiet, clean living space. Nested in the heart of the residential Scholecher, the location is ideal with those with a vehicle. Unfortunately, the location suffers if you don’t have a car. Lisa did offer to arrange for a car rental (which she does through another online service), but drivers need to have at least 5 years of driving experience, which I did not have at the time. Drivers from North America should also note that automatic transmission vehicles may only be available on special order, and may be considerably more expensive. (Note that I was not able to rent a car at the time because at the time I visited, there was a strike, halting all bus transportation, thereby preventing me from picking up an automatic rental).
The environment itself is extremely cleanly and safe. Lisa put a tremendous effort into ensuring that I felt safe and even picked me up on one occasion when I got lost. Lisa allowed full access to her kitchen, and even offered me quiche and water when I got in. You can see a view of the ocean, right out of the doorstep. In mornings, there was often some disturbance from nearby neighbours blasting stereo systems, which did wake me up on some occasions, but for the most part, the location is quiet.
The room is very clean, but lacked outlets. The AC was wonderful, and went to as low as 19 degrees – great!
Once again, location suffers heavily if you don’t have a car. Obviously, one does not travel to Martinique without car plans, so tant pis for moi for not forseeing a strike. Nonetheless, I think guests will enjoy Lisa as a host, and should consider staying with her.
