Luxuriate in safari romance in this secluded African-style 'Out Of Malibu' canvas tent with en-suite bath and sun-warmed shower.Nestled into a canyon, you'll enjoy total privacy and panoramic views of pure nature surrounded by native wildlife. If your requested dates aren't available, check our "Malibu Yurt Retreat on Organic Farm", "our OCEANVIEW reTREAT on Malibu Farm" or our Tiny Japanese Tea House soon opening.
This brand new safari tent with a modern en suite bathroom has been designed by Bibi Jordan, host and award-winning author/designer of the interior design/travel coffee table book SAFARI CHIC.
The Safari Tent has a small room heater and a heated blanket, but in Dec, Jan, Feb and March temperatures may dip at night and/or day, so please dress in layers and bring slippers/cosy socks (no shoes on the soft bamboo floor please) and a robe for your comfort.
A word of caution though, if you are the type of person who might suffer from Mobiphobia (fear of mobile connection loss) and need a constant uninterrupted internet fix, then perhaps this is not the right setting for you as the Safari Chic Tent is a WiFi-Free Zone. A WiFi connection is available a short walk away at our pool area, but not at the Tent site itself. We feel that unplugging from the constant buzz of modern life is the very essence of staying at this calmed and peaceful site.
In this rustic retreat, you’ll enjoy the tranquility of a sustainable life style in the midst of our organic orchard and organic gardens watered with our own spring water. Just a little over a mile up a scenic canyon road from the Pacific Coast Highway, our neighborhood is home to deer, coyotes, raccoons and hawks and just a few families. Floating above the coast, the property has amazing views of the canyon and the ocean beyond with limitless lookouts for sunrise, sunset, moonrise and star-gazing. Surrounded by our Meyer lemon and avocado orchard, the Safari Chic Tent is complemented by our organic vegetable gardens and free-range chicken.
Home-cooked organic meals featuring our own garden-fresh produce and local wines can be (EMAIL HIDDEN)mitted to an ecological lifestyle, we alert guests to a few limitations. Wifi is available at the pool area, but no TV. No loud music. No parties or non-paying guests unless cleared by the management. Smoking allowed outside in pool area only - use sand butt cans. This is a highly flammable wildlife area.
Please note that there is no kitchen associated with the Safari Chic Tent. You may bring take-out food to eat by the pool but not at the tent site. Please try to take advantage of the numerous outdoor picnic areas we offer. We provide basic disposable, bio-degradable picnic-ware. Note that all left-over food must be thrown immediately in the garbages. Do NOT throw left-over food in the toilet or wash plates in the sink. Please clean up immediately any crumbs or scraps to avoid an ant infestation. There is a small fridge by the pool bar for storage of limited drinks and supplies. Please respect our privacy by not asking to use the kitchen in our house.
We also want to advise guests that this is a working orchard and vegetable garden. People uncomfortable with domestic animals (dogs, chickens) or scared by the sounds of canyon animals (coyotes, owls, song birds), and have aversion to seeing a spider or ant on the floors may prefer an urban location. Also, those who are very light sleepers should consider using earplugs if the possible sounds of coyotes, owls, roosters, or dogs keep them awake.
Whether you wish to retreat to Nature or explore the surroundings, you have a wide choice of activities. Our canyons and beaches boast world-class mountain biking, hiking, horse-riding, wine-tasting, surfing and sunbathing. Nearby are local restaurants and hangouts while the towns of Westlake Village & Thousand Oaks are just 15 miles away to the north. There are hiking trails right out your door which access Nicholas Canyon Park and lake as well as Leo Carillo State Park. We can arrange trail guides, horseback lessons and trail rides locally, as well as rental of surfboards, wet suits, and mountain bikes. Yoga, dance, Pilates, acupuncture, massage, and gym usage can also be arranged.
While secluded, we are easily accessible by major roads. A 3 minute drive down the canyon takes you to Pacific Coast Highway’s most pristine beaches in southern California. It’s just a few more miles to beautiful Malibu town and pier with all lots of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. A 12 minute drive in the other direction takes you to the Ventura Freeway for easy access to Burbank. Downtown L.A., Disney land and beyond. Or heading north to Ventura, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, and other sights on the way to San Francisco.
** Special Note **
We are a working agricultural operation that hosts guests through Airbnb. Our location is in a distinctly rural area of the Malibu hills. If you are the type of person who is squeamish about encountering a few natural things like crickets, ants, spiders and an occasional deposit of dust on the window sill then perhaps we are not the right fit for you. We strive every day to keep our facilities dust and insect free, but our location is not in a dirt-free city center but rather in a country rural setting, so if this is appealing then we hope to see you soon.

Другие важные подробности
Malibu Safari Chic is a special experience for a special type of guest. Luxurious as it is, remember it is a tent! Be prepared to hear the wind in the trees and sometimes the canvas flapping. At night, you're likely to hear the owls and the nightingale. The dogs may sleep nearby and will bark if raccoons are in the area. So if you are a very light sleeper, bring some ear plugs.
The tent is accessed from the parking area along a path cut into the hillside that includes about 38 steps so please carry only an overnight bag. Big suitcases can be left in your car in our secure parking area.
The bathroom is just a few steps behind the tent attached to the tent platform. With a flushing toilet and hot/cold water, it is simple but modern and there is a private outdoor shower.
To get the full 'safari experience', guests should order our special 'safari' breakfasts and dinners. This provides the total relaxation, luxurious service and into-nature experience of an African safari.
The tent is provided with electricity but no high-voltage appliances like hair dryers are allowed to be used except the low wattage hair dryer supplied in the bathroom. Also, WiFi is limited to reception at the pool area. To use high-voltage appliances and wifi just pop down to the pool bar which is steps down from your Safari Tent.
A constant sea breeze provides natural air-conditioning, and cosy down comforters provide warmth. To enjoy lounging on your private deck in the early morning to enjoy the birdsong or late at night to gaze at the stars, please bring sweats and/or a robe to use in addition to the throw blankets we provide.
There is a Koerig machine in the side cabinet, so you can make coffee and tea, but please note that no food is allowed in the tent or deck except for our own room service.
The Safari Tent is an experience in sustainable living. Hot water for showering is provided via solar heating so please take short showers. As it is solar heated, the best times for showering are in the afternoon after a sunny day. Another small tank hot water shower is available down by the pool and is heated by electricity so it is always hot, but it is a short shower owing to the small size of the tank.
Please understand that landscaping along the tent trail is 'art in progress' and changes depending on the seasons.

WE EMBRACE DIVERSITY! I'm an author/photographer by profession, but a traveler by vocation ... that's why I'm running an AirBnB... because even when I'm not traveling, I'm always on a journey! I love learning languages and speak Spanish, Portuguese and French with a smattering of Japanese and Arabic. Bruce is a Director of Photography specializing in 3D films. But, we both share a passion for organic gardening. Besides our orchard of 100 Meyer Lemons, we grow organic vegetables and herbs. We both love sharing recipes and conversation with friends, new and old, from around the world ... as well as favorite travel tales, books, and music.
