'Guunuwa' ("Be Alive!") is an organic fruits, vegetables and macadamia nut farm using permaculture practice in the production of organic food.

The Old Bellingen nurses quarters is a unique Queenslander situated on land which has a north facing, undulating slope with an ephemeral creek. A fruit and vegetable garden sprawls across the north slope near the spring fed dam.

Two rooms in the old home are made available to participants in the week long course. The short stay option offers education in permaculture practices. Enjoy, living and learning on the peaceful grounds of "Guunuwa". There is also space for people who wish to camp on site. The rate for a two man tent is $22 per night.
As well as the bathroom in the house, an outdoor shower and toilet, which overlook the garden, are available to guests.
Four rooms all open out to the wrap around verandahs. There is access for all guests to the lounge/dining, kitchen and bathroom. All amenities are shared.

Christina Barry is the course convener with 25 years experience in education. An introduction to permaculture, sustainable education, cooking and English classes upon request are also offered. When morning lessons and breakfast is finished an excursion to nearby Valla Beach is the regular routine. In the heat of the day food preservation from harvested produce is also a component of the education course. With the benefit of eating all that is prepared from the organic garden.
Over the evening meal a review of the day and questions can also be answered.
You will need to bring notepad and pen/pencil. suitable footwear, eg. gumboots, hat, sunscreen and long shirt. Waterbottle and gloves would also be useful.

The week long course is offered to a minimum of four people and a group maximum of six.
Shorter stays of two nights are available to individuals and groups. These stays include only brief overview of grey water reed bed system, solar, rota-loo and use of on-site fertilisers for the garden.
During Camp Creative week, a breakfast is offered for an additional $5 per person
The house has a safe spaces policy, with all people respectful of gender and ethnicity.
