I only stayed at Kuta Baru for one night, because I ended up getting sick and went back to Bali. The decor is nice. The rooms have high ceilings and are very spacious, even the bathroom. The level of comfort in the beds is ok. Aircon is amazing!! The best I've had!! The pool area is nice and inviting. The location itself is pretty central I guess. There's a really tasty place to eat around the corner called nannas warung, and it's cheap too. Now, here's the not so good things. My toilet didn't have a seat. Constant power shortages, but this is common in Lombok. But highly inconvenient! So make sure you keep spare water bottles to shower. There's no phone in rooms, so if you need anything, you always have to walk to the front desk to find someone. The breakfast is awful. It is set out buffet style. Self serve, and then you can order your eggs how you like. My milk curdled in my coffee. Bread was stale. Cereal looked basic, besides the milk wasn't great so I didn't bother. Fruit tasted like onion and garlic. Clearly the workers used the same board to cut everything on, maybe even same knife? Who knows? But it tasted disgusting! The juice was like straight up cordial. I nearly choked on my first sip. Now, these things can be improved, but more importantly, the staff. I found the girls a bit more warm and friendly. The guys - not so much. Only one man was ok and nice to talk to. The rest didn't seem to give a care, and were quite rude almost, not the person you want working at the reception, greeting customers and supposedly making them feel welcome. I didn't stay here long enough to see things through all the way, to get super annoyed, and plus I was sick, but I could imagine other people getting irritated. The owner is nice. Handsome young man, whom was very hospitable and greeted me with a handshake, when I needed to speak with him regarding refunding the nights I didn't stay, which wasn't a problem at all, and he was very genuine in hoping that I would get better soon.
