Who am I:
I have a love for life and passionate about many things (hiking, biking, boating, swimming, reading, roadtrips, travelling etc). Healthy lifestyle and wellness above all things. I work as a Senior Engineer with Hewlett Packard and in my free time I volunteer with Auxiliary Coast Guard (Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue Unit). My ideal day would be to get up in the morning, take my boat out into the ocean for crabbing, prawning, catching salmon/halibut and in the evening prepare a wonderful meal for friends/family.
My Daily Necessities:
Be aware, stay awake, meditate, feel, breathe & smile, relax/enjoy/laugh/play, create & envision, let go/forgive/accept, walk & exercise, work/serve/contribute, listen/learn/inquire, consider & reflect, lighten up, dream, appreciate, give thanks, evolve, love, share/give/receive, simplify, trust.
My place is in an awesome location in the Saanich Peninsula (aka Vancouver Island or Victoria). Large 0.26 acre lot with almost 1850 sq ft of living space
I have room for 6 cars to park so plenty of space here
More than happy to pick you up and drop you off at the airport or BC Ferry Terminal
Incase you don’t have a car, you will need this website to plan your itinerary around the city. Search "BC Transit"
Basic House Rules:
* smoking (outside is fine, inside is a no)
* pretty basic stuff, courtesy and innate kindness, both given and expected
Other useful websites (Search):
Sidney by the Sea
Juan de Fuca Trail including China Beach
West Coast Trail
Tofino Bus! It is approx. 5 hour drive one way from Victoria, so plan on staying there at least overnight if you go. TOFINO BUS is expensive....I suggest posting on the Victoria BC Couchsurfing group as to when you want to go and try and get a group together to ride share. Perhaps there is a local CSer who wants to go, already has a car, and all you need do is 'gas share' and for a 4 cylinder car, it's probably about $40-50 worth of gas round trip, so if there are 4 of you, about $10-15 bucks for the trip.
Camping on Vancouver Island: Please remember that we have BEARS and COUGARS. Take precautions, such as a whistle, bear spray, cougar repellant and the like
As of January 2013 you can now buy an ALL DAY BUS PASS for $5. That's a bargain (it's down from $7.50).
Recommended that you check both BC Ferries, and PCL websites to ensure that there is a connection for your intended Ferry sailing. You can also call 1.800.BCFERRY toll free in Canada for up to date info.
There is also a direct ferry link from Victoria to Port Angeles (North of Seattle), Washington State,USA on the Coho Ferry (90 minutes one way- Passport required, and possibly a Visa to enter the USA) This is also a car ferry for those that may have wheeled transport. The Clipper Ferry from Seattle, Washington to downtown Victoria
And.....there is also a 'Third link' for ferries to and from the USA, and that is the Sidney/Anacortes Washington Ferry. This is a passenger/car ferry:
