Jacqueline's place has stunning views of Lake Michigan, Navy Pier and Chicago River and it's a spacious one bedroom apartment. However, I don't think it had been cleaned in awhile, including furniture. The bed was difficult to sleep on, and there was no lamp in the room for reading. The fitness center and pool were great, but the elevators were awful. You had to wait most times for about 5 minutes for one to come, and once sfter 15 minutes I finally walked down 50+ floors. As a host, Jacqueline was accommodating, prompt and very pleasant. I just wish her apartment was the same.
Jacqueline was a great host and very communicative. Her apartment was clean and comfortable and had truly amazing views of the lake and Navy Pier. It is also well-located to navigate the city by foot or by train. The building has a nice fitness center and pool, as well as a laundry room, all of which were accessible to me. I was there for three weeks on business and, by the end of my stay, I felt very much at home. While I know now that the listing states under "amenities" that the apartment does not have internet, I do wish that information had been listed in the description of the apartment so that I could've made arrangements beforehand to get a hotspot. Not having internet access in the apartment made doing work at home rather difficult, and I had to take advantage of the lounge in the building and the Starbucks down the street. Not a huge deal, and I will be sure to check the amenities more carefully in future. Aside from that, my stay was great and I would definitely recommend Jacqueline's apartment to anybody who wants a centrally-located apartment with amazing views. Thanks! -aaron
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with the owner of the property. The apartment, views and location were amazing and it makes me sad that I will never be able to stay there, but I would never want to deal with her again. We came into a pretty messy apartment (shoes left in the living room, dust bunnies all over the floors, she was still putting stuff in closets and emptying the dish washer), but that wasn't that big of a deal. The biggest issue was the exit. She came into the apt at 8am. Immediately started saying what a mess the place was, which it wasn't. There was a vase that we had used that made her extremely mad and she yelled to pack our bags and get the F-word out of her house. We had planned to finish up the few dishes in the sink before leaving, but not at 8am and had already folded sheets and towels. We did pay a cleaning fee and there were no instructions on how she wanted the place left. She was very unprofessional. First of all, she shouldn't have been back at the apartment that early and to tell us to get the F out of her house is completely inexcusable. I should have figured that it was going to be difficult to deal with her because when I first booked the place 5 months earlier, she sent me a text that said she had double booked and after I told her that my card had already been charged, she said that she had figured everything out. Then there was a big deal about not getting the doorman involved with anything, which made it a little uncomfortable, because we always kind of felt like we were sneaking around. Lastly, the day before I was to arrive, she called to tell me that she leaving on a flight and may need to meet me at the airport, which I was trying to accommodate for her, only to have her get snappy with me when I was giving her other options to meet with another one of the people occupying the apartment in case that made it easier. When we arrived, she told us that she had been kicked off of Airbnb because she was renting outside of the website, but just in case she gets back on here, I would like people to know what they are dealing with. The apartment & price were amazing. The owner was atrocious.
Jacqueline, my host, is so welcoming, organized, and flexible. She walked around with me to show facilities in the apartment, pool, gym, and laundry room. She also guided me to Navy Pier. The apartment is quiet and has a wonderful view in the whole day, regardless time. There is a grocery market cross the road. I enjoyed swimming in the pool and working out in gym which open from 5:30am to midnight. Area around the apartment is quite safe and close to the Michigan Ave. No doubt staying at this apartment again if I travel Chicago. Thank you, Jacqueline.
