would stay again! clean, spacious and beautiful outside. The only issue I had was that it was so far from the main city that tour companies won't pick you up. plan on spending about 50k VND if you want to go anywhere. Other than that, I loved the place. And, Nam was so helpful, he did his best to speak english and I'm greatful for that.

Top floor apartment with an adjacent rooftop garden boasting a really excellent view of the city. The apartment was clean and insect free, the bed was soft and comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with a rice cooker and water cooler which made eating in an easy option The room description says smoking is allowed which was a little worrying as I'm very sensitive to smoky odours however I didn't catch any scent of smoke during my stay. I hope the host changes to a no smoking policy as I would like to rent the apartment again on my next visit to Hanoi A great place to stay

This review is for a 3rd floor apartment - not the 8th floor as listed. The apartment was clean and spacious with lots of natural light in the bedroom. The location is a bit off the beaten "tourism" path. It is about a 30-40 minute walk to Ho Chi Minh complex, fine arts museum. About a 15-20 minute walk to West Lake. Overall, this place was great and I would recommend anyone to stay here if they don't mind being outside of the tourism area. Nam was a very responsive host. One thing to note before you book, check with Nam about what he will provide - i.e. sheets, towels, soap.

I'm Nam. I'm 36 year old. I'm living in Hanoi, Vietnam (Hanoian). I have worked for 8 years as Real Estate Agency and I'm owner of 10 one bedroom apartments in Ba Dinh district and 10 apartments in Cau Giay district, Hanoi also. I have the good relationship with all the hotel owners an serviced apartment owners. That is why I can offer not only the best local knowledge but the best rates also.
I hope that you guys have a great time here in Hanoi!

* Old Quarter
The Old Quarter of Hanoi has something for most travelers. A great place to wander around and absorb the colors, sounds and smells of the area while either shopping or enjoying some of the outstanding cuisines found in the streets. The traffic in Hanoi and specifically the old quarter is hectic and one needs to be careful while crossing the streets. A local who saw us struggling to cross a road advised that the best way is to just walk but keep a steady pace and the traffic will go round you. It seemed to work ! The area around Hoam Kiem lake has some good restaurants and great views if you visit the City View Cafe Building. As in any city there are always the scams and one to watch out for here is the recycled draft beer at the Bia Hoi Cafes. Some establishments will pour all left overs through a sieve to take out any "extras" and then resell the beer as cheap draft. Rather stick to bottled beer. Know the exchange rate when converting and count your money in front of the teller before leaving. Rather use a bank and not the side street vendors. Wonderful mixture of 2000 years of architecture and history with many different nations having occupied this City over time. Great for photography

* Vietnam Museum of Ethnology
Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is a unit under Vietnam Academy of Scocial Sciences. Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is both a research centre and a public museum exhibiting the ethnic groups of Vietnam. The mission of the Museum is scientific research, collection, documentation, conservation, exhibition and preserving the cultural and historic patrimony of the nation's different ethnic groups. The museum also serves to guide research, conservation, and technology that are specific to the work of an ethnographic museum.

*Temple of Literature & National University

Go here and learn about Vietnam/Hanoi history. It is a must see place for travelers, not far from the center of Hanoi and easy to find on the map. It can be reached by bus/motorbike/taxi. Not long stay, an hour is enough. Have discount for student!

* Hanoi Street Food Tour
Hanoi street food tour is a leading local travel company located inside old quarter . The company is not only famous for street food walking tours ,but also famous for cyclo tours,biking tours and organizing City sightseeing street food tours on the back of a scooters !
