Close and convenient location from the airport in a quiet and green neighborhood behind downtown on the mountain called Pacific Heights.
Close by car and bus (#6) to downtown historic sights, Chinatown and Kaka'ako arts district, Ala Moana Mall and beach park, and Waikiki Beach.
While some people rely on the bus, we recommend a rental car for all or at least part of your stay to enjoy the entire island.
Close to all major roads (H-1, Pali Hwy, etc.) but quiet and contemplative. Free street parking. Don't be duped in Waikiki, hotels charge $25+ daily to park your car.
A convenient, central base camp to explore O'ahu. 5 minute drive to our neighborhood waterfall, 10 minute drive to a dozen surf spots, three major supermarkets nearby. Lots of yummy, local boutique restaurants surround us: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Cuban, Greek, and Moroccan in the area.
We live on the side of the mountain, thus the great view. There are 45 steps to walk up from the street. No elevator. It's not a problem for us, or so far, any of our guests, but if you think it will be difficult and make your visit less enjoyable, consider staying somewhere else.

Другие важные подробности
1. We are NON-SMOKERS. This is a non-smoking household. If you smoke please find another place to stay.
2. We have a great view, but its 45 steps to our front door from the street. If walking is difficult for you, or you have leg problems, this may not be a good choice for you. Also, if you are a "pack the kitchen sink" kinda person, remember you will have to carry it up all the steps. It has not been an issue for any one of our clients, but my dad, age 70, had a difficult time walking up the steps as he had a knee replacement.
3. We speak Japanese, if that helps.
Please respect our island home:
No Pets. No smoking. No drugs. No guests. No children.

James was born a Michigander from the United States, but has lived and worked in California, Guam, Japan, Maui, and O'ahu. He has called Hawai'i home for twenty years but has traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Rim and SE Asia primarily on surf or snowboard expeditions.
Among other sundry jobs he has been a sherpa for a National Geographic documentary on Kauai, taught scuba diving in Maui, designed photovoltaic solar systems on O'ahu, taught fine art and English to children in Japan, performed as an actor on TV and commercials, and run his own business as an outdoor adventure guide.
If you can't find him gardening around the house, he's probably out surfing, snowboarding, sailing, or hiking. Yes, there is snow in Hawaii!
Chiharu hails from Fukuoka, the capital city of the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, and has lived in Hawaii for five years. She is your connection if you speak Japanese or want to know about the best place for noodles in the city. As a former flight attendant for ANA in Japan, she had the opportunity to fly and work all over the world. Currently she's land based and works in Waikiki for the clothing company Tory Burch and is a self-claimed 'fashionista' and 'foodie'. Ask her anything about Waikiki!
Collectively we are your hosts. We hope you enjoy your stay in Hawai'i. Please let us know how we can assist you in your stay.
