Eastown is Grand Rapids' hippest neighborhood, where the area's character is reflected in an eclectic mix of specialty shops and galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, entertainment venues, and locally owned businesses.
Our home turned 100 years old in 2014. It has a ton of charm and character. Original hardwood floors, leaded and stained glass windows, radiator heat, wood molding, etc..
Your room contains an XL Twin bed, closet with a space heater, hangers, towels, white noise machine, desk for working, dresser withe drawers, extra bedding and blankets.
Your room has private access to the 3 season back porch.
We live right in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Eastown. We are located right near restaurants, shops, coffee shops, bars, etc..
With that being said you will likely hear: cars, cabs, conversation and general "city noise".
A simple solution is a white noise machine, white noise app on your phone, closing your bedroom window when sleeping and using the air conditioner. All of those options will provide a solution.
Prime city living is great, please expect the normal city sounds.
The room is on the 2nd floor of the home so there is a flight of stairs to climb.
• Shared bathroom
• Living Room
• Dining Room
• Back Porch that is connected to your bedroom
• Front 3 season porch that is a super great space for hanging out

There are several areas you can eat: back porch table, front porch or dining room table
Bath towels, extra bedding, blankets, hangers, etc.. are located in your closet.
We recycle and compost nearly everything. We don’t accumulate very much refuse. Recycling bin is in kitchen under counter. It’s the big blue bin with a recycling symbol. The can next to that is garbage.
Compost: We have curbside composting. There is a countertop compost container and we also keep a double paper bag on the back porch for larger amounts of compost.
No smoking please! This means in our home and the surrounding area/yard/porch.
NO additional guests (only those made known when booking) are to be invited to our home.

If you're looking to party all night and get black out drunk, our home is not the right venue.
Please use only the front door when entering/exiting the house.
There will be a booklet on your bed with house information. I will give you a tour of the home and show you the little things as far as door locks, parking, etc...
I (Jen) work from home so I will likely be here during your stay. I have my own 1/2 bath in the attic so mostly you will have the shared by to yourself unless we need to use the shower. I will be in my studio on a separate floor as to provide you with your privacy. I'm readily available via text or phone call if you have any questions or need anything.
Jen - I'm an illustrator who works out of our home. I'm originally from the suburbs of Detroit. I moved to Chicago in 2005 and lived there for 8 years.
Andy - is in management at Whole Foods Market. He's originally from Illinois and is a HUGE Cubs fan.
We met in 2009 and got married on 9.10.11
We relocated from Chicago to our favorite neighborhood, Eastown, in 2013.
We purchased a 100 year old home and have been working hard at renovating and restoring it.
We love: travel, thrifting, antiquing, home renovating, kayaking, concerts, Tigers & Cubs Games, biking and seeking out the best vegan fare in town.
