Hawkes Hill is a peaceful country getaway 12 minutes south of Golden with spectacular views overlooking the Columbia River valley. Be wowed by our fully furnished, two bedroom self contained apartment with a million dollar view!
Hawkes Hill is a fully equipped two bedroom suite adjacent to, but fully independent of, the owner’s home. The suite is full of sunlight and looks out over the Columbia River valley and the Purcell Mountains to the west and the Rockies to the east. Views to the north overlook a wooded meadow perfect for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and easy walks or hiking during the rest of the year.
The suite sleeps four comfortably. The master bedroom features a queen size bed. The second bedroom has two twins. (PLEASE SEE FEE NOTE BELOW.)
A large spacious living area off the bedrooms and bathroom makes up the rest of the suite and combines a kitchen and sitting area with a wood stove. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, dishes and utensils. Wi-Fi is available as well as satellite tv.
Price listed is for two people. For a 3rd and 4th person, add $20/night per person each. Add $25 cleaning fee when two people want to use both bedrooms.
Minimum two night stay, however the constant feedback we receive from our guests is that they wished they had booked for at least three nights or more. Over this Christmas 2016 weekend we need a minimum 3 night stay with check in on Friday Dec. 23.
PLEASE NOTE: our basic fee is calculated for two people sharing the same room. If two people wish to use two rooms for sleeping, please confirm with us before booking. Using both rooms increases our cleaning load and cost so we need to add a $25 cleaning fee to the basic fee when two people use both bedrooms. Thanks.
Trails for hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing just outside the door and into the meadow. Hot tub. Beautiful deck overlooking our gardens and the valley below.

We live in the main house adjacent to the suite and are accessible if the need arises. We love meeting guests and hearing about their lives and travels, but we also respect a mutual need for privacy. For your arrival we offer a loaf of Bill's home made bread and stock the kitchen with tea, coffee fixings to make you welcome.
We strive to provide a comfortable place for our guests to relax and enjoy their holiday. In return, we ask that guests are considerate and respectful of our home and beautiful environment. No smoking on the property, please. No pets. No visitors. No parties.
Upon confirmation of your booking, we will send you our Welcome 'book' which provides additional and helpful guidelines for your visit here.
That's my husband, Bill, enjoying some rare couch time with me in our home near Golden, BC, in the Columbia Valley.
Over the past 13 years, we have enjoyed a busy life here as we have added on to our house to create the vacation suite and developed the garden that surrounds our home. Both of us work full time at jobs we love; I am an elementary school teacher and Bill works in the arts. (Check out Kicking Horse Culture online to see some of the cool stuff Bill is involved in.)
Since we moved here in 2001, Bill has become quite knowledgeable about the region, so if you are looking for local lore - ask him! He'll have a story to tell you.
