Thank you Smokey for your stay and your review. You and your wife were wonderful people to meet and you took such good care of our home during your stay. I hope that, regardless of the issues you may have had, that our home was a nice stay that met your comfort and your needs. I appreciate your comments. They help a lot. I do want to use this opportunity to go over some of the issues that you may have had with our home so that we can reach an understanding & I am sorry that the home was not 100% to your liking. As far as the "essentials" go and the cleanliness goes in our home, let me list them by the concerns:
"the house was not as clean as we expected it to be." -
We do our very best to make sure that our home is well kept and clean. Please remember that, in our description, it states that we are not only dog owners but it also reiterates that this is our home and it is not a hotel. Even some hotels are dirtier than our home. I am not sure what your expectations were for that area these were never pointed out to us and we never went over these issues.
"The kitchen was missing several essentials, including paper towels, dish soap, dishcloths or sponges." -
When it comes to the essentials in the kitchen, when you stay in someones home on Airbnb, there is no level of expectation or requirements for any home owner to provide any of these things. The listing describes this place as being our home and when you rent and stay in our home, you are getting what we are getting and it is encouraged that you supply the home with your own personal needs if the home owners do not offer them. I understand that it might be preferable to leave items like this for a more accommodating stay and in most cases, perhaps it would be good to have these items available. We did have dish soap, dish towels, paper napkins, paper plates & dish scrubbers. However, home owners cannot guess what preferences the tenants want. I think the reason that these are not requirements for home owners though, is that everyone's situation is different, everyone's preference is different and one cannot judge based off of these preferences.
"The yard, which we expected to have available for our grandchildren to play in, was unusable." -
As far as the yard would go, we usually do not advertise the yard in the winter months as we do not have our yard keepers come in during the winter months as often. This would be our fault by not letting you know that our yard was not kept as it usually is.
