Wow, this is a great apartment. When I first saw it in person it was so clean and shiny I thought it was brand new. Vincent, our host, was great. My plane arrived 3 hours late but when I arrived at the apartment at 11 at night he was still there waiting for me. And unlike any other host I've had in Airbnb, Vincent actually offered to take me on a car tour of the city!!! (Unfortunately I had no time.)
This apartment Super Convenient. The 235 bus that stops right in front of the apartment goes to Taiwan Normal University and the Shidai night market while the 284 bus that stops right around the corner goes to National Taiwan University and the Gongguan district.
There are lots of western restaurants nearby. There is a Starbucks right around the corner, while within a short walk you will discover a Greek restaurant, a Thai restaurant, an Indonesian restaurant, a Sichuan restaurant, a cinema, several super markets, and so on.
The apartment is indeed very quiet, although I must say I was fooled by the photo. I thought the apartment looked out on a park, but no, it is just a tree lined street. Still, other than the nightly garbage trucks calling out the neighborhood to the tune of Beethoven's "Fur Elise" the apartment is extremely quiet.
The television has no english language channels, but that was not a problem. I just attached a hdmi cable from the tv to my laptop and was able to watch netflix, HBO go, etc. Internet speeds were pretty decent.
If you are, like me, a gym rat who likes to spend a lot of time at the gym, you will be disappointed with the nearest gym, the Da'an sports center. The machines are old and the wait to get a machine is long. It is about a 10 minute walk from the apartment. I am hoping that next time I stay here I can find a better gym.
In conclusion, I enjoyed my 5 weeks in this apartment. I do not have a single complaint about the place and hope to stay here again in the future.
