This mid-century modern, passive solar home close to Lake Willoughby is a great place for family gatherings. Tall windows let in nature everywhere you look, with views of Mt. Wheeler. Cook up a storm in the big kitchen. Relax in the expansive living room and dining area. The large master bedroom doubles as a library. The family room has an entertainment system, and a table for crafts and games. Charcoal grill on patio. THREE NIGHT MINIMUM STAY. INQUIRE ABOUT FLAT WEEKLY SUMMER RATE.
Everyone who stays with us treats the house as if it were there own. When we put down drinks on furniture, we put them on coasters (as one dumb example). We ask that kids not be left unattended in the master bedroom/library as there are antique books there that are very tempting to explore. Above all, this is a family house. Anyone who comes can sense the love of my parents and our larger family. It's a place to get together with your friends and family and carry on this tradition. We've had a few bad apples over the past year, so we are extra careful these days who we rent to. Like all AirBNB hosts, we look for guests who have great reviews from other hosts - just as guests look for great reviews from other guests.
My wife and I are empty nesters and (gasp) grandparents as of September 2014. While we live just outside Boston, we have deep Vermont roots, so we're up at our house at Lake Willoughby as often as we can be, which is not too often given that our daughter and grandson are in New York. We love hiking, snow shoeing, skiing, mountain biking, swimming in Lake Willoughby, and just about anything else you can do outdoors in this corner of Vermont they call the Northeast Kingdom. We also like to kick back with a good book, or bomb around the countryside eating at funky old diners and shopping for antiques. We also enjoy travel to other countries like England and Italy. Our hope for this house is that it will be enjoyed by families and their close friends, and treated with the kind of respect they would have for their own home.
