It is a very interesting place to stay, tucked behind a gate of one of the most famous streets in the world. It's an interesting experience and the view is spectacular. It's on the pricey side but is worth spending a night or two for the overall experience. The house is a little old but the view makes up for it!

The view of the bay is excellent. It is quiet, clean and comfortable. However there are several areas for improvement; considering the very high price, I expected a higher standard. -The white sofas are stained rather noticeably. -The kitchen could have been better stocked, for example, with a microwave, or potholders. Shame on me for not noticing in the amenities there was no microwave, I had simply expected it. -You are technically on Lombard street, however, you do not have a view of it from the apartment. Without a view of the street, the location is actually a negative due to the relative difficulty of getting in and out compared to less popular streets. -Most significantly, the shower only produces 5-7 minutes of hot water, which is short even for one person. -There was a welcome sheet with certain strict "terms and conditions" that were not presented at the time of payment through airbnb, which I thought was irregular. All in all, having stayed in 12 airbnb locations in the city, this one would not be my first choice at this price point.

We spent a wonderful time in this apartment of paradise. The master and the living room have an awesome view of the bay, Coit tower, telegraph hill and the bay bridge. The home is absolutely quiet and conveniently located in walking distance to the cable car and different bus lines. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to feel at home (even better!) with amazing hosts at a great location! This apartment/location is worth every penny!

Crisp white furnishings is the perfect pairing to the spectacular views. On the famous and crowded "crookedest street in America", you enter the apartment through a gate that opens onto an incredibly charming wooden courtyard strung with white lights, looking like a set straight out of "Tales of the City". North beach and Polk Street are blocks away and Hyde street has a bounty of great places; our children particularly liked the original location of Swensen's ice cream. The 45 and 30 buses took us anywhere we wanted to go. Kari and her family were very patient with the noise my children made. And Kari herself put out any worries that crept up before our trip. Her husband went out the day before our trip (in the middle of Christmas mayhem) and bought an air bed so that both of my children could sleep in separate beds in the guest room. The master is huge with two enormous closets along one wall and three windows on another framing a view of the bay, Coit tower, telegraph hill and the bay bridge. Strangely it was the only apartment I found in this neighborhood with a king sized bed. The living room also has n even bigger view that encompasses the transamerican building as well as the bay. Two sizable and comfortable white sofas flank the fireplace and tv, as well as two arm chairs across from the tv and fireplace. The kitchen is open to the living room and the dining room table is large and comfortable. We cooked dinners most nights and the sleek modern white plates and platters were perfect. Having a washing machine and dryer right in the hallway that connects the two bedrooms and the bathroom was wonderful. Though this apartment puts you right in the middle of everything, the house is set back, surrounded by courtyards, gardens and terraces which made it feel very private and magical. Our first morning we woke to the sounds of a wild parrot flock outside our bedroom window and while having coffee on the terrace had humming birds fluttering around us. I couldn't imagine a better place to stay in San Francisco. The only downside was the tourists on Lombard street- though it did make us feel like rock stars as we came and went out of our private gated entrance. People literally stopped, stared and took pictures of us. Some even asked,"Do you live here?!" Yes. Yes we did- for 10 magical days. Thank you Kari!

Let's not beat around the bush: this place is expensive. But, rest assured, it is worth every penny. Due to family circumstances I needed a last-minute special treat for myself for a few days in San Francisco. There were limited hotel or Airbnb choices left. Kari's flat with its extraordinary view and parking was the best option and - boy - was it a fantastic choice. Where to begin? The view, of course. San Francisco is a city to experience first hand, but I have to admit I was torn between leaving the flat to experience the city versus sitting on the deck watching it unfold below me live on the world's largest viewing screen: reality. It is truly breath-taking. Whether watching the sunrise or the orange glow reflection of sunsets: magical. In the morning I was woken by the squawking parrots. In the evening, serenaded by the distant howls of sea lions and the rising full moon. Surrounded by the trees of the garden... is this really a city? Then there's the flat itself, which for a short-term rental is absolutely luxurious with understated contemporary style. I felt so comfortable there I struggled to leave. Kari was a responsive host and, while we didn't meet in person, I wish we had so I could thank her personally.
