Anton's cottage is cute and quaint in a great location. It's on a more quiet spot but is only a five minute walk to town. There's a small beach right across the path which seems like my own private beach. Anton was helpful with where to do what in Yelapa.

The description of the property was accurate as far as it goes. The room is small and basic, but has everything one might need. It is also very well located in terms of the Yelapa pueblo. On the negative side, for travelers like my husband and me the absence of any outdoor common space was a serious drawback that was not mentioned in the description. The hosts pointed to a small cove outside the door as an available outdoor space, but that required sitting on rocks or sand. When alerted to our discomfort, though, Antonia responded beautifully by offering us the use of an upstairs patio, once the guest staying there had left. Indeed, whenever anything was brought to her attention (beach towels!) Antonia's response was immediate and positive. Yelapa is a unique community with many artists and retired ex-pats. It is also a wonderfully intact, welcoming Mexican community. We loved our stay!

We were lucky to book this place at the last minute and amazed it was still available for the holidays. The place is connected to Antonia's artist studio, but is very much its own private space. There are two private entrances to the casita and it's very close to the water and the main part of town. We found the place without any trouble by asking for Antonia as soon as we got off the ferry. We were led directly to her front door! The space is small, but well appointed and comfortable. Nice shower, drinking water provided, and all the kitchen essentials. Very quiet at night and great location.

Frankly, communication here was not the best- in follow through with advance inquiries or agreements, and with no reviews on this new place I felt like I was taking a gamble coming in. But once I was at the casita, Antonia and Chris were prompt in attending to my every request, even somewhat special or unconventional ones like stringing a clothes line or giving me supplies to repair a broken snorkle tube. The casita itself is actually "nicer in person" than what appears in the pictures. It's done up with genuine artistic flair, individuality and attention to small details which you'd be unlikely to find in a more "corporate" housing where several units may be offered. This Casita is a good arrangement for the older traveller like myself (70's) who wants a feeling of privacy, but also convenient access to the restaurants and stores in town. Location was ideal for the person who wants to be out of the noise and density of Yelapa town, but not so far as to have to lumber along rocky paths for some distance at night, or climb up a steep hillside with a number of big steps. Personally, I feel the "big beach" in Yelapa is unremarkable (organic debris in water, coarse sand) but this place is on the way out to "the point" with a small beach nearby. Not really big enough to lie on it in the sun, but nice for snorkeling or swimming off the rocks. The casita is DIRECTLY on the trail which leads out to further accommodations on the point, which can mean that you can hear people passing by on the path on the other side of the wall almost as if they are in the room with you, but this is only transient as it IS a trail and people ARE moving. Cooking facilities are very minimal, but I was not seeking to cook full meals, there. The fridge is tiny. I personally like the more "enclosed" feeling here with walls, as opposed to the open air palapas, and unlike them (which relay solely upon air movement) the fan here is appreciated. If you like plants as I do, you'll love the abundance of tropicals as you approach the entrance of this (self contained) unit, and on the property, in general.

Antonia's place is a really charming cottage-like place in a great location in Yelapa. Yelapa is divided down the middle by a little stream that you can cross on barefoot. The left side is very touristy with a white sand beach and restaurants, and the right side is the "pueblo" - a small town with more locals that feels more authentic. Seaside Casita Artista is in the pueblo. If you want immediate access to beaches and Pina Coladas, then it's a 10-15 minute walk to the left side of the stream. If you're looking for a more authentic experience of Mexico, then this is a great place to be. You're just steps from a local market where you can buy stuff to cook with, steps to the water, and a couple minutes from a few good restaurants. The place has most of what you might need - kitchen, bathroom, sink, a huge safe area to lock things, etc. The bed is a little small but pretty comfortable. The fan is a godsend for reducing the number of mosquito bites. Antonia and Chris were super friendly, easygoing, and pretty easy to reach when I needed anything.
