Palawan Private Beach House - as the name suggests is a house on a private beach in Palawan. This area of Palawan really is still considered the last frontier, spared of high rise development and mass tourism. Dont expect McD or KFC here.
This is NOT Puerto Princessa and the El Nido Resort area.
Coron Busuanga (USU airport) is thinly populated and dense forest is still common with towns and roads often few and far between. Getting around requires patience , sometimes a little ingenuity, and from time to time a healthy sense of humour! Unlike other areas of the Philippines English is not commonly spoken here. Please remember this area didn’t have an airport until very recently so tourism is very new and even now, 99% of arrivals are Filipino adventure seekers and the occasional diver. We built here because we like the privacy and remoteness and hope that aspect never changes but we also realize that is not everyone’s idea of paradise. I am trying to explain our holiday home as best I can with pros and cons.
The area is most famous for its beautiful deserted beaches and islands and dive sites of course. They are scattered over a vast area and there are hundreds of them like a big free natural theme park. You can always see one from another. Please be realistic and keep in mind that island hopping Palawan style is not a matter of stepping onto a luxury launch and being transported to a private beach where champagne on ice and a picnic lunch will be ready waiting. As nice as that might sound, its not going to happen this century with the level of service we can provide. Our staff have only very basic hospitality skills. They will try and accommodate any requests but it is with regret I say not always to a high standard. If its five star service your after, please book elsewhere because you will be disappointed here. Best to arrive with the bare minimum of service expectations and anything extra will be a bonus. The villa is clean, the view is AMAZING, the beach is completely private, the beds are made with new sheets.
Please take it upon yourself to keep your drinks on ice, to order any extra you want from the mainland, even to make ice before you go to bed. If you would like some food to take island hopping, discuss it with the staff and triple check they pack everything you need into the boat – don’t email me a month later and say they sent you out with no ice.
The villa is huge sleeping 13 in 4 queen beds plus 5 singles. There are also a few sofa beds. There are 4 bathrooms with natural spring showers. There is no aircon as we run on solar plus generator which is only enough to run the essentials. There is no power at all through the day from after breakfast to sunset but you probably wont really notice that with most of your day being spent on the huge terrace or beach. We DO NOT turn on the generator through the day to charge the children’s Ipads or to blow-dry mums hair. Give them a hat and a bucket and send them to catch crabs instead. Crab racing at night can be great fun.
The Palawan Beach House is a unique property. ZERO pics on this site are professional photos but rather from our family album for the purpose of showing it in its honesty. The showers have pebble floors not marble, the fish has bones not batter and the house special cocktail is a fresh coconut from one of our own coconut trees.
Please bring any spirits or wine you might like to drink with you. Beer (san miquel / red horse) and coke or sprite can be bought here at our local town but anything else would need to be ordered from Coron. Airport to jetty is approx. 15 mins and then a further 45 mins by slow boat to our house and private beach. Expect around $150 each way for transfers paid direct to the van and boat driver. There is not another house in sight from ours. You will not be bothered by day trippers but you may see the occasional fisherman in the distance taking his catch to town.
There is great wreck diving in the Coron area but geographically we are on the opposite side of the mountain and several hours from Coron by boat so if you want to dive the famous sites, I suggest adding a few days in Coron town before or after your time with us. Diving where we are is possible not too far from our house through the Dugong dive center. Diving with the dugong is not something you can do outside of the arranged tours. Our staff and boatman cannot take you diving.
Anything extra you order from town needs to be paid for when its picked up from the jetty. We provide some snorkels and goggles and fins but I would suggest to bring your own if you’re a passionate snorkeler. Reef walking shoes are also advisable.
Please email any questions you may have – we are more than happy to answer them. We understand the expense involved in bringing your family or friends here and want to make sure everything is understood.
Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. I experience breathtaking moments with my family at the Palawan Beach House every time I holiday there. (Owner)
WHAT TO EXPECT
OH MY GOD are the words most commonly heard from guests as they step off the private boat and onto the sandy beach at Isla de Dios, our beautiful, rustic – private – beachfront hideaway. Not because it falls into a standard definition of luxury, because it doesn’t. It is awe-inspiring because it’s unique and breath-taking, and because it is the only beach house, alone on an island, and that is a luxury for anyone who appreciates the value of space and privacy.
Perhaps what most surprises people most is that secluded places like this still exist in the world. Imagine waking up each morning to the songs of nature and the gentle relaxing sounds of the ocean. From all angles, no matter where you stroll, swim or trek to, all you see is clean ocean waters, deserted islands and – if you’re lucky – the occasional local fisherman out hooking the day’s catch.

In all, Isla de Dios can accommodate up to 13 people very comfortably, (maybe even a few extra kids upon request). The beach house features:
•3 beautifully appointed en-suite double bedrooms
•1 HUGE mezzanine bedroom on the top floor with 5 single beds and one double bed that accommodates up to 7 extra adults or children
•Dining room with family style seating for up to 15 people
•Huge living room with many sofas, books and games
Isla de Dios is just a hop, skip and private boat ride from the Manila airport. The quickest route is to fly from Manila to Coron (there are 4 flights daily). From there take a 30 minute private boat ride from the village of Decalacau, which is just a 15 minute drive from Coron airport USU). Alternative routes might be necessary depending on season/weather. TRANSFERS NOT INCLUDED. MEALS NOT INCLUDED
HOLIDAY YOUR WAY: SELF-CATERING
The days are yours to spend as you’d wish. Bring mats and start the day with yoga on the beach at sunrise. With no one in sight you can go for a swim then relax with a fresh coconut in the hammock that swings between two palm trees located in front of the beach house. Enjoy a cold beer or whatever you choose to bring with you inside or out! Our beach is privately owned and is for your exclusive use only.
Homar is our local caretaker. Although he’s not Hyatt trained (nor is he there to cook), Homar works tirelessly to ensure that you enjoy your holiday. He can help you to arrange deliveries for anything you may need or didn’t bring with you – including simple restocking of ice and beverages. We suggest that you bring everything with you and order in for delivery only your fresh seafood and basic drinks (beer, coke, etc.). There is a small store located just 15 minutes away by boat that will deliver right to the shore of your beach house but they only stock the basic that you would expect from a small village shop. Also, don’t forget to come with local currency because you will need cash in Pesos to pay for any deliveries.
PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE OWNER
We hope you will have a wonderful time on Isla de Dios. All I ask is that you keep in mind that this is NOT Necker Island and sadly I’m NOT Richard Branson. This is our family holiday home most of the year that we share with others when we are not using it to help offset the huge expense of having it. Please be realistic and understand what you’re booking. This is a castaway island experience situated in the last frontier of the Philippines and sometimes a sense of humour will be required during your stay. Expect coconuts and sandy feet, NOT marble bathrooms and 5 star USA style service…and to leave there with amazing stories from your unique adventure.
THINGS TO DO & EXCURSIONS
While the most common pastimes are relaxing, swimming, snorkelling, reading and taking in the breath-taking beauty surrounding the beach house, there are many fun things to do and ways to stay active:
•Explore! Depending on your group size, there is a large variety of boats that can be rented from the local village for day trips, from as little as $50 a day.
•Take a tour! There are several recommended tours we can arrange to other islands and secret coves.
Scuba dive! There is a great dive company located just a 20 - 30 boat ride away from Isla de Dios that offers high quality diving service to our guests. Its called the DUGONG DIVE CENTER at club paradise. Be sure to arrange this well in advance direct with them before you arrive. Keep in mind that we will need to arrange your boat travel to the dive resort so don’t forget to arrange that with Homar (our caretaker) as soon as you arrive.
