Charming and cozy efficiency apartment off Magazine St. in the Uptown area near the Garden District, very private, with everything you need for a comfortable stay in New Orleans!
We built this efficiency (or studio, depending on your regional dialect) as our perfect little getaway in New Orleans. It's ideally suited for a couple. It's nestled in the back of a New Orleans "basement style" house from the Arts & Crafts era two blocks from Magazine St. It's painted in historically correct colors and decorated with framed classic movie posters. It has beadboard walls, ceramic tile and tin ceilings throughout, a spacious bathroom with a whirlpool tub, and a beautiful Kenmore gas stove from the 1930s including four burners, oven, a griddle, and a broiler. The large kitchen area also includes a full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and a table for two. The antique full sized iron and brass bed is very cozy. The living area has a comfortable craftsman style loveseat and a flat screen TV with a built-in DVD player mounted on a swivel so it can be pointed towards the bed if you like to watch TV when you go to sleep. Everything you need is right at your fingertips!
Guests have the whole apartment to themselves and enter through a private alleyway. Off street parking is plentiful and you can usually find a spot right in front of the gate to the alley (unless it's a day on which there are Mardi Gras parades, in which case it's best to park early and leave your car or else you will likely lose your spot). Basic expanded cable TV and WiFi are included.

Though I lived in this house for years before Hurricane Katrina relocated me to Baton Rouge, we now live in Baton Rouge full time. This will very much so be your own private apartment. Access to the apartment is via a key code lock. The code will be provided shortly before your stay.

We keep the gas to the stove turned off at the main hookup, easily accessed by reaching behind the stove on the right hand side. Though none of the valves in the stove leak, we feel it's better to be safe than sorry considering the age of the stove. Simply turn the gas on when you want to use the stove then turn it off again when you're finished cooking.
