Общение с гостями

Our Guest Apartment has it's own entrance and we are dedicated to providing the type of experience each guest is looking for.

In light of this, the level of interaction a guest has with us is entirely up to each guest. We would like our guests to think of the space as their own private sanctuary if that's what they are looking for. If our guests would like to hang out in the backyard, lay in the hammock, take a swim, or collect eggs in the morning for breakfast, they may see more of us!

In either case, when guests are in need of assistance in any way, such as questions about the apartment or advice on the area, we are happy to help. If we aren't home, we are always just a phone call away. Whichever experience you're looking for, once you are checked in, you will not be bothered unless you need us!

We provide a handy booklet with extensive information on all things good in our area.

Diane and Mark are wonderful hosts, so kind and helpful. What a comfortable, bright, airy, welcoming studio they provided, a perfect sanctuary in nature, and close to everything Connecticut and New York have to offer. The studio is well equipped, with beautiful decor, exactly as pictured. Every detail cared for, and on arrival was stocked with nuts, soups, teas and coffees, cereal, milk, fresh eggs and bread, so there was no need to go out first thing! The wildlife you can see from the studio, is very diverse: deer, squirrels, chipmunks and ground hogs, and gorgeous birds in Spring. It's amazing! There are also local wineries, lakes and forests, state parks, hiking trails and great local restaurants and shops, and of course New York City and Boston!! A great stay and an introduction to everything the area has to offer.

This home looks exactly like the pictures. It is very peaceful and homely, which is exactly what I was looking for me and my son. My son loved his "Ms Diane" always wanted to visit her and her son. He enjoyed playing with the son and his dad and chilling with Ms Diane. We spent 4 wonderful months and would go back in a heartbeat (well, except for winter, lol). You will definitely love this clean and lively studio that caters to every little detail of what you need to make it through while away from home. Absolutely loved the experience!

Diane and her husband did a great job making me feel at home. After meeting me, she showed me around the room and had a bowl full of fresh eggs in the fridge as well as fresh fruit and othe small niceties. An excellent first experience with AirBnB. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking in the area.

Diane's studio was just what I needed for relaxing and rejuvenating overnight trip. The studio has all the amenities and comforts you could want - it is clean, bright, cozy, quiet, and, as is described in her description, a true sanctuary. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the attention to detail made it a very memorable stay. Breakfast was homemade and delicious - pancakes and fresh eggs from the chickens out back (go check them out!) and numerous coffee options. While this time of year is not Connecticut's most beautiful, the setting is quiet, peaceful and wooded. I'd imagine this place is spectacular in the fall! Saturday was spent hiking at Squantz pond, which has numerous hiking trails and is just a few minutes from her place. I would love to come back again would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a cozy retreat.

I am a California native transplanted to the east coast with my husband and two boys. We live in a small, beautiful New England town flanked by the very large Candlewood Lake and Squantz Pond State Park. We also have a small lake in town, called "Ball Pond," which is great for a relaxing day of fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming, or ice fishing in the winter months. Candlewood Lake is a favorite spot for boating of all kinds, waterskiing and all kinds of other water fun.

New Fairfield has some very nice restaurants in town and many more nearby. American, Italian, Indian and Mexican and an excellent deli for creating the perfect picnic! We are close to ski areas, rivers and many hiking and rock climbing areas. The Connecticut Wine Trail is just up the road, and if you like to hunt for antiques and funky-finds, this is a great place to call base-camp! We are two miles from the New York state border and the beautiful Hudson River Valley area. Less than an hour to New Haven and Yale University and Western Connecticut University is just a few miles away. New Fairfield is a little over an hour's drive to New York City or a nice, relaxing hour and twenty minutes on Metro North (we like to use the Southeast Station, which is located in NY).

We live in a quiet neighborhood with over two acres on a dead-end street. Lots of rocks walls, ferns, and woods in the back. And a comfy hammock for the spring, summer and fall seasons. Abundant wildlife make our backyard and neighborhood their home— chipmunks, squirrels, deer, groundhogs, fox, wild turkeys, owls, countless species of birds, and even coyotes. And yes, an occasional skunk and opossum. We have a hen house in the back where our seven "girls" live. They are often outside, roaming the yard and really fun to watch. If you've never seen a chicken jump in the air to grab blueberries from a bush, you are in for a comedic treat! Although I do not make breakfast for guests, we do provide fresh eggs and muffins. We have a two burner stove, large toaster oven, refrigerator and sink. The kitchen is stocked with all the basic necessities for cooking and eating simple meals. Most importantly, for the caffeine-lovers, there is a Starbucks Verismo for your enjoyment (of course you are free to visit the brick-and-mortar Starbucks in town if you like).

We built an addition onto our home with with its own entrance, covered front porch, small kitchenette, bathroom, and slider door to the backyard. We are very excited about having visitors who will enjoy their own little sanctuary in our home, yard, town, and all that the surrounding areas have to offer!

I studied advertising and mass media in college and grad school and worked in high tech public relations prior to moving east. Since then I have worked part time in the media literacy field (teaching kids to be smart media consumers) and have taught at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. My husband studied business in college and works in the semiconductor industry.

I've been homeschooling my two boys for a decade— an unexpected turn of events that derailed my career plans but put me on the best family track imaginable— and the eldest is now a freshman at Cornell. My oldest is a high level rower and our family has enjoyed being involved in the rowing community. My younger son is eleven and he loves acting, architecture, and design of all kinds. We are part of a very strong homeschooling community based out of Newtown, CT and we have an amazing performing arts group that he enjoys very much.

We are "eclectic" homeschoolers, which means we are very flexible in our learning and like to be creative with creating/combining our own learning materials. We like to travel for fun and educational experiences. My kids have been to every museum on the eastern seaboard and in the Bay Area, where I am from. We have studied geology, Hawaiian culture/history, and marine biology prior to trips to Hawaii, studied Frank Lloyd Wright prior to traveling to Arizona to visit his home and teaching compound there. We studied Early American History before visiting Jamestown, VA. Plate tectonics and the Gold Rush was our topic of choice prior to our last trip to California where we visited the Point Reyes earthquake trail, Academy of Science, and the Gold Country. We have been to D.C. several times to hear Supreme Court arguments, visit our representatives, and visit the many museums and monuments. It is my hope that AirB&B will enable us to make even more educational trips possible for us. My youngest son is now in the sixth grade and we have so much to learn and see and do!

I am a long time vegetarian and nutrition enthusiast. I drink raw fruit and veggie smoothies on a daily basis and am completely in love with my Vitamix blender! I also have two hydroponic gardening systems that I also love (no dirt, no weeds, it waters itself on a timer!).

I am politically active and volunteer my time to campaigns and other activist issues I feel passionate about.

My kids have grown up without TV so going to hotels is usually a treat because they watch TV during our downtime. However, I'm looking forward to Air B&B choices that may have no TV!

We have four rescued cats, eight hens and a rabbit. We eat the eggs, not the hens.

My life's mottos:

Be honest and kind, nothing else matters.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win"
