Beautiful, comfortable, art-filled home. Owners are international travelers who have stayed in B&B accommodations around the world. Main bedroom is spacious with walk-in closet, bathroom is newly renovated. 2nd bedroom is smaller, ideal for 2nd couple traveling with friends, well behaved children, business colleagues who don't want to share a room. 2nd bedroom is only rented in conjunction with main bedroom to one group, as the two rooms share a bathroom. If you only need one room, we will not rent the second bedroom to anyone else.

We provide a front door key for guests that is kept by the door - we ask that guests take a key with them when they go out and put it back when they come in. A lost key will cost you $35 for us to get the lock re-keyed, so please be careful with your key.
2 guest bedrooms, guest bathroom, use of kitchen for breakfast, dining room, downstairs family room with large screen TV, laundry facilities for people staying a week or more. Large back deck in lovely garden. If you have bikes, you can keep them in the garage at night. We have had too many unfortunate experiences.

Другие важные подробности
There is alternate side of the street parking on street cleaning days - please read the posted sign or ask us which side of the street to park on to avoid getting a ticket. Street cleaning is on Thursdays and Fridays the first week of the month, April - Sept.
Must like dogs! If you don't, this is not the place for you. We like things to be kept somewhat neat, but are not crazy fastidious. Just rinse your dishes and put them in the sink. The closet in the main guest room is quite large, so we ask that guest's coats be kept upstairs as our coat closet is already too full.
Our house is not child-proofed, so we expect parents to monitor their children at all times while here.
We provide basic breakfast foods - muffins, butter, juice, coffee, tea, cereal, milk. If you want additional food or have dietary restrictions, there is a shelf in the fridge where you can keep it. We have many grocery stores nearby, and will happily direct you.
Please, absolutely no food in the bedrooms, things get spilled, it attracts ants and the dogs, which in one case resulted in a trip to the emergency vet. No glass glasses in the bathroom - we provide unbreakable ones for you to use. And please hang towels on hooks, not over the curtain shower rail, and don't use our towels to remove makeup. It doesn't come out. (Also, please remove makeup before lying on the bed linens - we have had several pillow cases ruined.)
We do not allow smoking either inside the house or on the deck. Thank you for remembering this is our home and not a hotel.
Our cleaning lady comes every other Tuesday - if you are here when she comes, she will clean the bathroom but will not go in the guest bedrooms unless you request it.
Please ask us if there is anything you need help with - we want you to have a safe and comfortable stay.

We are lively, well-traveled 60-somethings, two grown kids, retired husband Jeff. Nancy has traveled the world, and lived for 8 years in London, England working in advertising. Won some Clios as a copywriter; after moving back to the US became the director of a recycling facility, served as president of the Illinois Recycling Association, as well as our local chapter of Keep America Beautiful. After "retiring" from recycling, became a feature writer for a large group of local newspapers, and am still Marketing Director of the family seafood business. I work in my home office, so pretty busy during the day.
I am very involved with our local year-round farmers market, our annual Evanston Garden Walk (which supports the Evanston Environmental Association) , and other environmental causes. Both my daughter and my husband studied for graduate degrees at Northwestern (I, however, am a UW Badger).
We are avid birdwatchers, and have a mini nature preserve in our back yard, with loads of local avian visitors as well as lots of migrants in spring and fall. We know all the good local birding spots, and when time allows, I may be able to take visitors out birding.
We have birded in many parts of the US, Central America, South America, South Africa, Europe, Australia and Tasmania. We are fortunate to have friends in some wonderful places, but generally stay in B&Bs when not staying with friends. We also love food and wine, and have visited wineries all over the world and eaten some incredible meals in unlikely places. (Though Paris is at the top of our dining list.) We know all the good local restaurants, both in Evanston and Chicago, and are happy to make recommendations.
We are somewhat new to hosting, but have a ton of experience as B&B guests, so we know what people like!
